COSBY—Information regarding registration for Cosby High School and opening day requirements has been announced by the school’s administration.

All Cosby High School students must report to school on Friday, Aug. 2, by 8:15 a.m. for their first day of school.

Dismissal on Aug. 2 will be at 1:00 p.m. Both breakfast and lunch will be served, and school bus transportation will be provided. For information regarding bus routes, call the Cocke County Bus Garage at 423-623-2757.

Cosby High School staff will be on campus to register any new students on July 29-30 between 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. These registration dates are for ANY incoming students who are new to the area and for incoming freshmen (9th graders) who did not pre-register last spring at their elementary school.

A custodial parent/guardian must register the child. Main items needed for registration must include, and may not be limited to, the following:

1) a completed CHS registration form

2) an official transcript, attendance record, and discipline record from the previous high school

3) if student is entering high school as a first-time freshman, documentation verifying student’s promotion to the 9th grade

4) copies of student’s birth certificate and Social Security number

5) TN Certificate of Immunization

6) TWO separate proofs of residency in the parent/guardian’s name, such as a utility bill, a lease, etc.

7) if applicable, custodial documentation

8) if applicable, IEP/Psychological for students receiving special education services

An official school record submitted by a parent must come in a sealed envelope from the previous school OR the CHS counseling staff can send a request for the records to be faxed directly to them from the previous school.

CHS students in grades 10-12 may pick up their schedules on Tuesday, July 30, between 1:00–3:00 p.m. Students may also access their schedules via their online Aspen account.

Schedules for in-coming freshmen (9th graders) will be released between 4:00–6:00 p.m. on July 30 during the freshmen orientation event.

Parking passes cost $10 and lockers are $5 for students in grades 10-12 and may be purchased July 30, Tuesday, between 1:00–3:00 p.m. Students requesting a parking pass must bring their driver’s license and proof of insurance.

Incoming freshmen may purchase lockers between 4:00-6:00 p.m. during the freshmen orientation event.

All incoming ninth graders will have the opportunity to attend Freshmen Orientation on Tuesday, July 30, between 4:00-6:00 p.m. During this time, freshmen may pick up their schedules, tour the school facility, and purchase lockers.

On that day, at 5:00 p.m., students and parents are invited to attend a freshmen presentation outlining graduation requirements, early post-secondary opportunities, Aspen Parent Portal, and receive other important high school information.

Students may request course changes by completing a drop/add form which can be obtained in the main lobby entrance and the counseling department entrance. Drop/add process begins Friday, Aug. 2, and ends Friday, Aug. 9.
