NEWPORT—Members of the Cocke County Grand Jury reported an array of criminal charges this week.

Arraignments of those accused by the grand jury will appear in Cocke County Circuit Courtroom before Honorable Judge Carter Moore.

One those indicted was Billy Wayne Hance for escape. Hance was charged after he escaped from custody on July 8. According to police reports, Hance was being escorted back to jail from the General Sessions Courtroom when he fled from bailiffs.

Hance was on the run for nearly 24 hours when he was apprehended at a Newport hotel.

Here is a listing of those accused by the grand jury. Court records do not identify persons by age, address, or occupation and there may be other people with the same, or similar names.

Joshua Alan Byrd, charged with theft over $1,000, conspiracy theft over $1,000, and theft under $1,000 on June 11. Byrd was charged after evidence showed he stole items from Lowe’s and Crystal Conner.

Michael Lee Campbell, charged with theft under $1,000 after he reportedly stole a utility trailer from Steve Taylor on or about February 15.

Eddie Bryan Ford, charged with harassment, retaliate for past action, and extortion last December.

Shawn Dewayne Gatens, charged with the aggravated assault of Deborah McMahan on June 6.

Buddy George Greene, Jr., charged with child abuse in August 2018.

Billy Wayne Hance, charged with the aggravated assault of Frank Binsted on June 3. Hance was also charged with driving on a suspended license, violation of financial responsibility, light law violation, failure to yield to emergency vehicle, evading arrest, failure to maintain, and driving on a revoked license, violation of financial responsibility, failure to obey traffic control device, reckless driving, and failure to use due care following a pursuit on July 6.

Whitney Taylor Hannah, charged with theft of merchandise under $1,000, theft under $1,000, forgery (two counts), and fraudulent use of a credit card (three counts).

William David Hartsell, charged with forgery on February 19. Hartsell was also charged with driving under the influence on April 21.

Zachary David Hileman, charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia in March 2017.

Thomas Byron Hudson, charged with theft over $10,000 after he reportedly stole a 1954 Chevrolet truck from Brannon Duncan on July 7.

Gary L. Haney, charged with theft over $2,500 after he reportedly stole various items from Dan Lindsey on April 8.

Joseph Ray Jacobs, charged with escape last May.

Chuck Dewayne Kelly, charged with burglary of a building, theft under $1,000, and criminal trespassing on June 9.

Anthony Douglas Lemay, charged with driving under the influence, possession of a handgun while under the influence, and possession of drug paraphernalia last August.

Glenn Anthony Mantooth, charged with burglary of an auto, theft under $1,000, and evading arrest on June 10.

Deborah C. Mapp, charged with theft of merchandise over $1,000 on July 11.

Everett Mullins Jr., charged with driving under the influence, speeding, and driving on a suspended license in October 2018.

Joshua Eric Norton, charged with the aggravated assault of Joseph Barrett on May 21.

Julie Parker, charged with aggravated burglary, theft over $10,000, vandalism under $1,000, and criminal trespassing on June 19. Parker was also charged with aggravated burglary, theft over $2,500, and vandalism under $1,000 on June 21.

Justin Will Patterson, charged with vandalism under $1,000 and theft over $2,500 on May 12.

Rusty James Pearson, charged with theft over $1,000, conspiracy to commit theft over $1,000, and theft under $1,000 on June 11.

Brittany Lynn Reese, charged with violation of financial responsibility, improper turn, driving on a suspended license, and leaving the scene of an accident in November 2017.

Tommy Lee Rice, charged with the aggravated assault and assault of Kenneth Jones on June 2.

Walter A. Richards, charged with vandalism over $1,000 in June 2017.

Casey Rollins, charged with leaving the scene of an accident, driving on a revoked license, aggravated domestic assault (two counts), and reckless endangerment on January 12.

James Curtis Spencer, charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, theft under $1,000, and criminal trespassing on May 2.

Jerry Dewayne Teague, charged with evading arrest in November 2018.

Christopher Lee Webb, charged with vandalism under $1,000, theft over $2,500, and burglary on April 21. Webb was charged with aggravated burglary, theft over $1,000, and failure to appear on May 1 and June 3. In addition, he was charged with theft under $1,000 and theft over $1,000.

Antoinette Yvette Whitson, charged with theft over $1,000 and resisting arrest on July 11.

Marcus Ray Whitson, charged with theft over $1,000 on July 11.
