NEWPORT—A Newport man is facing charges of domestic assault and evading arrest following a domestic disturbance at a Fawn Ridge Way residence on Saturday, July 6.
Cocke County Sheriff Deputy Daniel Smith was dispatched to the 1000 block of Fawn Ridge Way, in reference to a domestic disturbance that occurred at the residence. Upon arrival, Deputy Smith said he first spoke with Lisa Green, 57, who was at a residence on Lehigh Drive.
Green reported that her son, Matthew Householder, 28, was under the influence of an unknown narcotic and began to threaten several family members.
Green also advised that Householder threw items at his wife, Amber Householder, 27, and destroyed several items inside the residence.
Green said Mr. Householder made the comment that he would have family members “taken care of” if he did not get his way.
Green managed to get herself and her grandson out of the residence to safety, but she said Mrs. Householder and her granddaughter were still at the Fawn Ridge Way residence.
Deputy Smith and Lt. David Moriarty then went to the residence and made contact with Householder, who was standing at the back door. When Householder saw deputies, he reportedly ran back into the house and locked the doors.
Deputies stated that Mr. Householder began turning off the lights and covering up all the windows.
According to the report, deputies obtained verbal consent from Green to enter the residence where they located Mrs. Householder and the child unharmed. They were removed from the residence and taken to a safe location.
Deputies continued to search the home when they found Mr. Householder hiding in a utility space.
Householder was apprehended and taken into custody.
No injuries were reported.
