NEWPORT—A Cosby man is facing domestic assault charges after he assaulted his father for shooting his cats on Wednesday, June 12.
Cocke County sheriff’s deputies identified the male as David Eugene Webb, 45, Hartford Road, Cosby. He was charged with domestic assault.
Deputy Joshua Boyce reported he and other deputies were dispatched to the 2400 block of Hartford Road concerning a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, Deputy Boyce spoke with David, who said he and his father, Arlie E. Webb, 66, were arguing after the father allegedly open the son’s front door and let out his cats.
David Webb admitted that he yelled at his dad, who yelled back saying, “I don’t care about your cats.”
David Webb said he then went into his camper when he heard a gunshot. At that time, he saw that his father had shot a cat.
According to the report, David Webb admitted he grabbed a baseball bat and swung the bat at Arlie Webb striking him in the hand. First Call EMS was called to the scene.
David Webb was then placed under arrest without further incident.
