Charles Walter McNabb, age 79, of Eustis, FL and formerly
of Danville, IN, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2009, after a brief
battle with liver cancer.
He was born July 25, 1930 in Newport, TN to Ben McNabb
and Lucy Propst McNabb, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him were
brothers George McNabb of Oak Ridge, TN, Jim McNabb of Indianapolis, IN, and
sisters Elizabeth Grimsley and Helen McNabb, both of Newport, TN.
Charles is survived by his wife Rita and stepdaughters
Lisa Wolfe of Eustis, FL, Wendy Dykhouse of Melbourne, FL, and Sherry Thompson
of Toledo, OH. Also by his brother Ken (Edythe) McNabb of Knoxville, TN and
sister Irene Wiley of Kingsport, TN; sons Charles (Chuck) McNabb, Jr. of
Danville, IN, John (Rebecca) McNabb of Clayton, IN, and Patrick (Jennifer)
McNabb of Danville, IN; grandsons Patrick McNabb Jr., Ben and Lucas McNabb;
great-granddaughters Rylee and Natalynn McNabb, and many nieces and nephews. He
is also survived by the mother of his children Maxine McNabb.
Charlie worked 32 years at General Motors Truck and Bus
Indianapolis, retiring in 1986 as a Foreman.
He served in and was honorably discharged from the United
States Navy.
He was a volunteer for Boys Scouts of America Troop 302
in Danville, IN and served as Scout Master for his sons and several other young
men.
Charles was renowned for his wine making, and anyone who
ever visited in his home was sure to gain a sample and complimentary bottle of
his finest. It was his passion for many, many years. He won multiple blue
ribbons over the years at the Indiana State Fair for a wide variety of his
famous wines.
Charlie's wish was that there be no calling or memorial
service, but any memorial contributions be made in his name to Crossroads of
