Jay W. Gregg

January 5, 1923 – May 6, 2008

 

Jay W. Gregg, age 85, of Newport, passed away suddenly at the James H. Quillen V.A. Medical Center in Johnson City. He was a veteran who proudly served his country during WWII and Korean Conflict.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Gregg; mother, Ada Whitlock Gregg; sisters, Wanda Osley and Dorothy Mathis; brother, Frederick Gregg; and niece, Ada Ruth Gregg.

He is survived by his sister, Shirley Ann Gregg; nieces, Potona Gregg, Martha Gregg, Marilyn Bassett, and Lavada (Donnie) Dunn; nephews, Roger Gregg, Freddy (Amy) Gregg and Gary Osley.

Funeral services will be held 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 9, 2008, in Manes Funeral Home West Chapel, with the Rev. Fred Gregg officiating.

Burial will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 10, 2008, in Union Cemetery, with L/Cpl Charles C. Roberts DAV Chapter 102 conducting military rites.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral services.
