NEWPORT--A benefit has been set for Saturday, April 12, from 12 to 4 p.m. at Newport City Park with proceeds going to the Artie Sturm family.

 

Sturm's wife, Stephanie Renner Sturm, died March 13. She was 29 and was the mother of two children, Devin Renner and Elizzah Sturm.

 

Artie Sturm is pastor of Daysprings Baptist Church in Newport.

 

The benefit will feature music. Scheduled to perform is the Going Home Boys from noon to 1 p.m., the Melody Mountain Boys from 1 to 2 p.m., State Rep. Eddie Yokley will lead an auction from 2 to 3 p.m., and Brim will take the stage from 3 to 4 p.m.

 

Food will also be available. There will be a hobo supper, featuring soup beans, or a barbecue plate.

 

Proceeds will go toward hospital bills and funeral expenses.
