COSBY––The Maid of Ramps reached its capacity with a total of 20 entries having been received Monday morning. The pageant will be held during the Cosby Ruritan Club Ramp Festival on Sunday, May 4, at noon on Kineauvista Hill.

 

These introductions feature four of the final eight entries. The remaining four contestants will be announced later this week.

 

Kayla Amber Kelley, the 18-year-old daughter of James and Melissa Kelley, of Parrottsville, is a senior at Cocke County High School (CCHS).

 

She has been a class officer for two years and served as Student Council secretary her junior year. In addition, she serves as co-captain of the CCHS Red Regiment Color Guard.

 

She is employed as a receptionist at Primary Care Center of Newport.

 

This fall she plans to attend Tusculum College to major in elementary education.

 

Sponsored by her parents, she plans to wear a dark blue gown accented with a black overlay and beading.

 

Kellye Mantooth, the 18-year-old daughter of Chuck and Sue Mantooth, of Bybee, is a senior at CCHS. She plans to attend East Tennessee State University to major in pre-medicine.

 

Her honors include being named an academic letterman in business, underclass letterman in EMS, being named Who’s Who Among American High School Students, and is listed with the National Honor Roll Society.

 

In senior class superlatives, she earned the title of Prettiest Smile. During 2007-08 she was a football homecoming nominee and was also a basketball homecoming nominee for 2007-08.

 

A member of the Beta Club and Key Club, she is a part-time employee of Premier Therapy. She is a member of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church’s youth group.

 

Sponsored by Mantooth’s Custom Meats and Vassar Plumbing, she will wear a black LaFemme gown featuring a high collar and train.

 

Brittany Morgan Littleton, the 17-year-old daughter of Russell and Patricia Thornton, of Newport, is a senior at Cosby High School (CHS).

 

Her honors include membership in Cosby Academy and Beta Club. She plays on the CCHS tennis team.

 

Littleton’s hobbies include playing tennis, shopping on eBay, playing with her dog Cash, and volunteering. She works at Carson Springs Baptist Convention Center and at H&R Block during tax season.

 

She plans to attend East Tennessee State University this fall to pursue a career in accounting.

 

Sponsored by Ebony and Ivory II Hair Design, she will wear a white chiffon full-length gown accented with a diamond broche.

 

Tiffany LaShae Hartsell, the 16-year-old daughter of Darlene and Jeff Gorrell, of Newport, is a sophomore at CHS.

 

 

Named to Who’s Who Among American High School Students, she enjoys playing basketball and softball, as well as spending time with her friends.

 

Her parents are sponsoring her.

 

The Maid of Ramps will crown the Little Miss/Master pageant on the stage at the top of the hill starting at 2 p.m.
