Drug charges
Wednesday, Sgt. Armando Fontes stopped a 1995 Honda Civic along Highway
25E for speeding. Fontes asked the driver, Amy N. Jackson, 31, 2450 Stone Wall
Jackson Drive, Newport, if she had any drugs or alcohol in the vehicle.
According to the report, Jackson willingly stated she had a “joint.” Fontes
asked Jackson to exit the vehicle and she turned over a small quantity of
marijuana to him from her purse. Fontes then asked for consent to search the
Honda. Fontes found a small amount of cocaine in the form of a crack rock,
apparently in plain view, in the door panel of the vehicle. Jackson was
arrested on charges of possession of schedule VI drugs (marijuana) and
possession of schedule II crack cocaine. The rock field-tested positive for
cocaine.
Credit card reported stolen
Wednesday, Sgt. David Crum filled out an offense report made by Lisa
White, 46, 1050 Mount Hebrew Road, Greeneville, concerning the theft of her
credit card while she was staying at a Cosby Highway Motel. According to the
report, White told Crum she had been staying at the Cosby Highway motel with
two women and one man. White told Crum she made two withdrawals from a local
bank with her credit card totaling $108. White also said the two women she was
with obtained her credit card PIN and made a withdrawal without her consent for
approximately $500. One of the women is believed to have still been at the
motel Wednesday and is reportedly driving a white minivan.
Customer service leads to theft
Wednesday, Dep. Hollis Emmons filled out an incident report made by
Francis E. Williams, 43, 133 B. Parrotts Ridge Way, Parrottsville, concerning
the theft of his wallet. According to the report, Williams, an employee of East
Tennessee Mobile Home Sales, stated he had his wallet laying on his office desk
when a customer came in for assistance. Williams stated he left his office to
make a copy at which time the customer reportedly left the office. When
Williams returned to the office, he noticed his dark brown wallet was missing.
Williams’ wallet contained a debit card, driver’s-license, Visa credit card,
Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance card and $42 cash. The suspect is believed to
live on Graystone Road, Afton, and reportedly drives a maroon-colored van.
Owner unable to retrieve Accord
Wednesday, Lt. Jonathan Morgan filled out an offense report made by
Melina L. Gann, 36, 1435 Viewmont Circle, Newport, concerning the theft of her
gold-colored 1994 Honda Accord. According to the report, Gann told Morgan she
was in possession of the Honda when she was moving from rental property owned
by 22-year-old white female. Gann reportedly owns the Honda however, she stated
the 22-year-old took the vehicle and kept her from moving both it and other
belongings from the rental property. The victim reportedly wishes to file theft
charges against the 22-year-old.

GMC’s hood splayed with stripper
Wednesday, Patrolman Derek Wright filled out an incident report made by
Frank Mahon, 34, 164 Hillcrest Drive, Parrottsville, concerning the vandalism
of his 2002 GMC Sierra pickup. According to the report, Mahon stated that at
approximately 1:30 p.m., he came outside his residence to check his mail and
noticed the paint on the hood of his pickup appeared to have been stripped off.
He told Wright it appeared as if someone poured paint stripper on the hood of
the vehicle, which damaged the driver’s-side fender as well. Mahon estimated
the damage to be $1,000. Mahon reportedly allowed a daughter to borrow the
truck. Wright spoke with the daughter who stated she is separated from her
husband. Wright’s report states the daughter suspects her husband might have
been responsible for the vandalism.
220 pills reported stolen
Tuesday, Sgt. Scott Lamb was called to the residence of Marvin Turner,
63, 119 Touchdown Way, Newport, on a report of stolen medication. Upon arrival,
police were informed by Turner he went to sleep Monday and when he awoke
Tuesday he noticed his medication was stolen. Turner stated a relative was the
only person that had access to the medication and was seen in the victim’s
bedroom the in the middle of the night. Approximately 120 Percocet pills and
100 Xanex, valued at $165, were taken from Turner’s residence.
Bronco’s tire slashed
Wednesday, Sgt. Jerry Shelton filled out an incident report made by
Jonathan Templin, 18, 975 Mystic Way, Newport, concerning the vandalism of his
1989 Ford Bronco. According to the report, Templin stated someone slashed a
tire on his Bronco while it was parked in the CCHS parking lot. The estimated
value of the tire is $116.
Mika arrested
Saturday, Det. Lynn Shults arrested Tamika “Mika” Scott, 23, 1026 Cahal
St., Nashville, on a capias from Circuit Court for the charges of especially
aggravated robbert after being presented to the Grand Jury. The charges stem
from a shooting that took place at Terrace Way Apartments parking lot on Aug.
25, 2007 that left Darren Walden, Morristown, paralyzed.
Package store Goosed
Wednesday, Det. Lynn Shults filled out an incident report made by an
employee of the Newport Package Store concerning the theft of a half-gallon of
Gray Goose Vodka. According to the report, a 30 to 40-year-old black male
entered the store Tuesday evening around 6:30 p.m. and went toward a shelf
where the Gray Goose brand of vodka is kept. The man then left the store
without making a purchase. After the suspect left, the cashier noticed the
bottle was missing from the shelf. The man had reportedly been in the store
earlier with another black male reportedly attempting to get the same brand and
amount of alcohol on credit. However, at $78 a bottle, the cashier refused the
request.
Wine set taken, home ransacked
Wednesday, Sgt. Jerry Shelton filled out an incident report made by
Randy Massey, 49, 325 North St., Newport, concerning the breaking and entering
of his house. According to the report, Massey stated someone shattered four
windows to gain entry into his residence. The suspect(s) also damaged two doors
in an attempt to enter the residence. The house was reportedly ransacked but
only a wine set, valued at $100, was reported stolen. The estimated cost of
damages to the home is estimated at $1,000.
One-ton damaged
Wednesday, Patrolman Jason Smith filled out an incident report made by
John Ramsey, 62, 111 Shadow Way, Del Rio, concerning damage to the
driver’s-side rear panel of his 1998 Chevrolet 3500 pickup while it was parked
in the Wal-Mart parking lot. According to the report, Ramsey told Smith he
parked his pickup in the parking lot, shopped briefly and went home. Ramsey
reportedly didn’t notice the damage until he got home. The estimated cost of
the damaged panel is $2,500.
