Monday morning and demanded OxyContin.
White Pine Police were dispatched to the drug store at 11:13 a.m. Pharmacy staff said the assailant entered the pharmacy from the Maple Street entrance, and had parked his white pickup truck, believed to be an older model Nissan Frontier, on that side of the building. A pharmacy employee said when the man entered the store, a female customer and her granddaughter were at the cash register area. When the employee asked the man if she could help him, he asked to see the pharmacist. The customers left the pharmacy and the man, who did show pharmacy staff a handgun, demanded OxyContin. After the pharmacist showed him where the drug was located, he grabbed it and exited the building, speeding away in his pickup truck. White Pine Patrolman Rodney Sexton, who responded to the call, said the actual total was not yet available, but it was believed the OxyContin taken is valued at about $5,000. The assailant was described as white male in his 30s with crooked teeth. He has brown hair and is about six feet tall and weighs about 150 pounds. He was wearing a blue T-shirt and a pale orange Carhartt baseball cap. No one was injured in the robbery. Sexton said the investigation is ongoing, and although authorities are not certain at this time, he confirmed there is the possibility the robbery is connected to the robbery of Town and Country Drugs in Newport on Saturday, June 21, where $10,000 worth of Oxycodone was taken.
