NEWPORT-During the month of July, the Veterans
of Foreign Wars (VFW) has special projects planned.
On the Fourth of July, from 6 to 8 p.m. the VFW will
be giving away hot dogs and hamburgers.
Richard Barnes invites veterans, the families of
veterans, and the citizens of Cocke County to drop by the VFW and enjoy a
hamburger or hot dog on Independence Day.
"People can stop by here and eat with us on their
way to see the fireworks at the fairgrounds," said Barnes. "We'd like
to be an active part of our community."
He pointed out the VFW also has a garden and will be
giving away its harvest, which includes corn, green beans, and tomatoes.
