WHITEPINE-A White Pine woman was injured when fire broke out at her home at 425Highway 25-32 early today.

Accordingto officials with the White Pine Volunteer Fire Department, the fire wasreported at 2:31 a.m. Firefighters from White Pine and Baneberry volunteer firedepartments arrived on scene at 2:39 a.m. to find smoke coming from thedwelling.

Officialssaid the female occupant of the residence said she woke to find the room onfire. She reportedly was able to exit the home and was treated on the scene byfirefighters.

Jefferson CountyEMS transported the home's occupant,whose identity had not been released, to St. Mary's Jefferson Memorial Hospital for treatment ofburns and smoke inhalation.

The20 firefighters who responded to the scene had the blaze under control by 3:30a.m. and stayed on scene until 4:30 a.m. to make sure the fire wasextinguished.

WhitePine responded with two engines and one tanker while Baneberry responded withone engine. Dandridge Volunteer Fire Department provided coverage for the areauntil the blaze was extinguished.

Thefire is under investigation, but authorities believe an electric heater startedthe blaze. About 50 percent of the home was damaged in the blaze.
