Baxter, other local Scout volunteers recognized
Lorri Baxter, who serves as Unit Commissioner for Cocke County received the District Award of Merit from Boy Scout's Cherokee District Executive Christian Nelms Tuesday evening during a banquet at Carson-Newman College.
Baxter has served in numerous Boy Scout volunteer positions including Cubmaster of Cub Scout Pack 298, Den Leader, Assistant Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 298, Unit Commissioner and assisted with several Cherokee District Cub Scout summer day camps. Baxter also received the William D. Boyce New-Unit Organizer Award for her work with Cub Scout Pack 497, chartered to Baysinger Baptist Church in Bybee.
Other volunteers were recognized for their service and training: from Cub Scout Pack 298 chartered to Newport First Baptist Church: Christy Fox, Den Leader Training Award; Otis Webb, Webelos Leader Training Award; Chris Taylor, Den Leader Training Award; from Boy Scout Troop 298 chartered to Newport First Baptist Church, Jennifer Hooper, Cubmaster Training Award; and from Cub Scout Pack 291 in Sunset Gap, Amanda Anthony, Tiger Leader Training Award and Miranda Brown, Den Leader Training Award.
