(Last modified: 2009-05-07 17:22:17) Source: The Newport Plain Talk NEWPORT-The second annual Animal Fair and Fundraiser by the Newport Animal Shelter will be held starting at 11 a.m. this Saturday at Newport City Park.
The money raised from the fair is being used for a spay-neuter program. Events include live music from FMS Praise Band, David Northern Band, Big Creek and the Camerons), vendors, food, face painting, pet contest (cutest, owner/pet look alike), cakewalk, auction, pet hygiene (nail trim, ear wash) and low cost shots. The East Tennessee Overhill Cherokee descendents and Newport Art Guild will also be on hand. Prices for vaccines are $10 for 3-year rabies, $10 for parvo, distemper, $15 feline rcp, $10 microchipping, and bordetella $10. Cost for hygiene services are $5 for a nail trim, $5 for an ear wash or $8 for both. An auction will being at 3 p.m. Auction Items include one- and two-night cabin rentals (approx 10), Hook'em Adventures trout fishing expedition for two, Dollywood Splash Country tickets, Briarwood Safari Park Tickets, Parrot Mountain Tickets, indoor parachuting tickets, saddle, llama trek expedition, summer cut grooming, family/pet picture package, PSC Grafite Elite series compound bow, rick of wood, plants, grill, crate/dog bed food package, restaurant gift certificate, vet package, furniture, NASCAR Park Speed tickets, rafting tickets, Knoxville Zoo, Ripley's Aquarium, Knoxville Symphony, Country Tonight tickets, Massage, and numerous gift baskets.
