NEWPORT-Another successful week for the Cocke County Recreation Department's Diamond Divas 11-12 softball squad.
The Divas started the week with a 15-0 win over the White Pine Cyclones.
Abbie Ramsey got the win from the circle, giving up only one hit with six strikeouts in three innings of work. Bethanie Williams came on in relief to mop things up, picking up two strikeouts.
Offensively, Leah Lewandowski went 2-2 with a home run and a single. Sydney Hazelwood also went 2-2 with two singles and a walk. Bethanie Williams was 2-02 with a homer and a single while Allison Frazier was 1-2 with a home run. Autumn Bible was 1-2, including a double, while Abie Ramsey was 1-1 with a single, and a hit-by-pitch. Jaylon Dunn was 1-1 with a single and a walk.
The Divas finished out the week with a rousing 20-0 victory over the Cheetahs. Bethanie Williams got the win in the circle for the Divas.
The Divas are now 10-1 on the season, 7-0 in league play.
Head coach Herbie Frazier's squad faces a busy week, which will included five games in four days. On Tuesday, the Divas will renew their rivalry with Blue Thunder at Northwest starting at 7:15 p.m. On Thursday, the Divas will travel to Field of Dreams in Dandridge to take on the orioles at 6 p.m. And then on Friday, a big double-header with Blue Thunder at 6 p.m., followed by a single game against the Cheetahs at Edgemont Field.
