NEWPORT- One of the highlights of the biannual Tennessee Picnic Association (TPA) celebration is the Tennessee Picnic pageant.

The pageant is set for 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 2, at Cocke County High School in the auditorium. Admission is $5 for adults and $1 for children.

Two contestants are being announced today, bringing the total number of participants to seven.

Kayla Phipps, of Knoxville, is the 16-year-old daughter of the Reverend Alex and Connie Phipps. She enjoys writing poetry, singing, and dancing.

Jasmine Freeman, also of Knoxville, is the 16-year-old daughter of Alberta and Briand Freeman.

She is a majorette and enjoys baton twirling, basketball, softball, marching band and dancing.

The other contestants, who were previously announced, are Chelsea Whiteside, Chelsey Davis, Kendra Ray, Tenisha Ray, and KeYonna Kirkland.
