(Last modified: 2009-09-19 14:37:04) Source: The Newport Plain Talk MORRISTOWN-The Morristown Police Department (MPD) is investigating the shooting of a 7-months-pregnant Mooresburg woman at this hour. Mary Ellen Smith, 26, an employee of Heritage Center Nursing Care in Morristown, was shot in the abdomen as she walked near her car in the parking lot of the facility at approximately 10:30 p.m. this evening. She was able to return inside the center and notify police. No one else at the center was injured in the attack. The suspect is identified as Steven A. Pugh, Jr., 40, of Morristown. The two have been involved in an ongoing domestic dispute and Smith has an active Order of Protection against him. Pugh was apprehended a short time later after Lt. Ernie Berzell of the Hamblen County Sheriff's Office located him at a night club in Cocke County. Pugh was taken into custody, with the assistance of the Cocke County Sheriff' Department, without incident. Smith was transported to UT Medical Center in Knoxville. MPD Detective Phil Hurst charged Pugh with two counts of
Attempted First-Degree Murder. He
