A one- or two-family dwelling at 261 Honey Lane, in Del Rio, was
totally destroyed by a fire called in late on Wednesday, Oct. 21,
according to a Cocke County Fire Department spokesman. Cocke
County and Del Rio fire departments responded to the fire whose
homeowner, Tammy Kelly, called 911 at 11:54 p.m. after she
awoke to the smell of smoke. Kelly, apparently the only occupant
at the time of the fire, escaped unharmed by the fire of
undetermined origin. The house, valued at $65,000, was a total loss.
The last firefighting unit left at 3:03 a.m. this morning (Oct. 22), the
spokesperson said.
