Several local events have been scheduled this week for children to celebrate Halloween. Among the events in Cocke County are:

 

Trick-or-Treat at the Park

The eleventh annual Trick-or-Treat at the Park event, sponsored by the Newport Parks and Recreation Department, will be Saturday, Oct. 31, from 6:00-8:30 p.m. at Newport City Park's walking track. The event is for children up to 10 years of age.

 

Cosby's 2nd annual Spooktacular Trunk or Treat

Cosby's 2nd annual Spooktacular Trunk or Treat, sponsored by the Cosby FCE Club, Inc., will be held at the Smoky Mountain Visitors Center "On Cosby" Friday and Saturday, Oct. 30 and 31, from 6 to 10 p.m.

 

Centerview Haunted Hollow Hay Ride

The Haunted Hollow Hay Rides will continue in Centerview on Oct. 29-30 beginning at dusk at Centerview Elementary School. The cost is $5 per person.

 

Haunted House in Grassy Oct. 29, 30 and 31

The Grassy Fork Community Club announces its bigger, better, and scarier 2009 Haunted House will continue the next two weekends. The remaining dates are Oct. 29, 30, and 31 starting at dusk. The house will remain open until the last visitor is scared. Tickets are $6 apiece, and group rates are available. Food will also be served nightly, starting at 5:30 p.m. The club is located on Big Creek Road in Hartford, next to Grassy Fork Elementary School.

 

Church events

Several area churches are planning special events. These include Denton Baptist Church Trunk-or-Treat from 6-8 p.m., English Creek Baptist Church Trunk-or-Treat from 5-9 p.m., Cosby Church of God Fall Festival from 3:30-8:00 p.m., Swannsylvania Baptist Church Fall Festival from 6-8 p.m., Glendale United Methodist Church Trunk-or-Treat from 4-6 p.m., and First United Methodist Church Trunk-or-Treat.
