NEWPORT-The 2009-10 Cocke County Elementary School basketball season is off and running, tipping off this past Monday night, November 2, with Bridgeport at Del Rio, Smoky Mountain at Cosby, Centerview at Northwest and Parrottsville at Grassy Fork.

The Lady Falcons were way too much for the Lady Patriots in this one. The Lady Falcons blitzed the Lady Patriots 28-0 in the first quarter, and never looked back, leading 45-1 at the break, 47-1 at the end of three and cruising home with the 47-point victory. Leah Lewandowski had a game-high 14 points to lead the Lady Falcons while Markisha Allen had 2 points to lead the Lady Patriots.

Centerview (50): Leah Lewandowski 14, Hannah Miller 12, Kaitlynn Fine 8, Hayley Miller 7, Haley Burke 5, Brooke Holt 2, Kaylee Reed 2.

This was a nip-and-tuck contest right down to the final buzzer. The Patriots held the upper hand early, leading 11-8 at the end of the first quarter. The Falcons pulled to within one, 19-18, at the break, and still trailed the Patriots by one, 29-28, heading into the final quarter. The Falcons out-scored the Patriots 14-10 over the final six minutes, however, to get the hard-earned three-point victory. Collin White had a game-high 24 points to lead the Falcons while Francisco Torres had 13 points to pace the Patriots.

Centerview (42): Collin White 24, Kelby Hayes 7, Cody (?, No. 55) 4, Ryder (?) 4, Adam Loyd 2, Nicholas Myers 1.

Northwest (39): Francisco Torres 13, Kobe Robertson 8, Kinsler Rea 6, Justin Gaddis 6, Barren Pruitt 4, Chris Stevenson 2.

The Lady Rockets jumped on the Lady Trojans for a 20-3 first quarter lead and never looked back, leading 31-4 at the break, 39-9 at the end of three, and cruising home with the 18-point victory. Megan Finchum had a game-high 18 points to lead the Lady Rockets while Autumn Stokely had 12 points to pace the Lady Trojans.

Bridgeport (43): Megan Finchum 18, Alexis Williams 14, (?, No. 23) 4, Desharee Hall 3, Courtney Cox 2, Seaniya Jones 2.

Del Rio (25): Autumn Stokely 12, Sarah Conard 9, Caitlyn Ledford 2, Emily Stinson 2.

This was a tight game to start with the Rockets leading the Trojans by two, 10-8, at the end of the first quarter. But, the Rockets out-scored the Trojans 16-6 in the second quarter for a 26-14 lead at the break and pulled away, leading 41-20 after three and cruising home with the 19-point victory. Patrick Hurst had a game-high 25 points to lead the Rockets while Hunter Phillips had 12 points to pace the Trojans.

Bridgeport (50): Patrick Hurst 25, Blake Gentry 8, Clint Ramsey 6, Austin Ford 5, Austin Black 4, Erin Hartsell 2.

Del Rio (31): Hunter Phillips 12, Raiden Worley 6, Blake Daniels 6, Logan Black 3, Thomas Smallwood 2, Shawn Sells 2.

Game information from Smoky Mountain at Cosby and Parrottsville at Grassy Fork was unavailable at press time.
