Heavy rains and high water from the remains of Hurricane Ida washed out a portion of the culvert. Additional rain, freezing and thawing can result in further damages and unsafe passage. The road will remain closed until repairs are completed. District Ranger Terry Bowerman said, "We apologize for the inconvenience, especially during hunting season, but public safety is our highest priority." A time frame for the closure was not announced.
