Probation violation: Amber R. Sane, 19, Cedar Glen Way, was served with active outstanding warrants for violation of probation (two counts) on Friday, June 7. Patrolman Joshyua Shults arrested Sane following a traffic stop without incident.

Shoplifting: Officers were dispatched to Walmart concerning an active shoplifter on Saturday, June 8. While en route, Patrolman Joshyua Shults was notified that the female suspect, identified as Amanda M. Graham, 30, Matewan, West Virginia, left the scene in a Honda Accord. Ptl. Shults located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop where he came in contact with Graham and transported her back to Walmart. Upon further investigation officers recovered five items that Graham stole. The estimated theft was $80. She was arrested and charged with theft of property.

Public intoxication: Steven K. Smith, 32, Lehigh Drive, was charged with public intoxication on Thursday, June 6. Patrolman Johnathan Ball reported he was dispatched to the area of West Highway 25/70 in reference to a suspicious person. Upon arrival, Ptl. Ball came in contact with Smith who reportedly showed signs of impairment. According to the report, Smith had “erratic” movement and dilated pupils. Smith admitted to being impaired and he was placed under arrest without incident.

Evans arrest: Daniel B. Evans, 42, Dell Way, was served with an active outstanding warrant for failure to comply with child support on Friday, June 7. Sgt. Derek Wright arrested Evans at Walmart.

Failure to appear: Jacob Henry, 28, No address, was served with an active outstanding warrant for failure to appear on Friday, June 7. Patrolman Paul Weber arrested Henry following a traffic stop.

DUI: A Newport man was arrested by the Newport Police Department for several charges including driving under the influence on Sunday, June 9. Patrolman Joshyua Shults reported he conducted a traffic stop after he observed a vehicle operating without proper tag lights. At that time, Ptl. Shults came in contact with the driver, Jeffrey L. Reed, 35, Sunbright Road, who had an odor of alcohol about his person, bloodshot eyes, and slurred speech. According to the report, Reed admitted to consuming alcohol at a bar prior. Ptl. Shults attempted to administer field sobriety test to Reed, but he refused to participate. He was placed under arrest without further incident. Reed was charged with driving under the influence, no registration, driving while license revoked, and violation of implied consent.

Failure to appear: Keyla I. Dickerson, 21, Rankin Hill Road, was served with an active outstanding warrant for failure to appear on Sunday, June 9. Patrolman Will Garber served Dickerson the warrant at the Cocke County Jail Annex.

Failure to appear: Angel G. Rodriguez, 23, Rankin Hill Road, was served with an active outstanding warrant for failure to appear on Sunday, June 9. Patrolman Will Garber arrested Rodriguez following a traffic stop without incident.

Probation violation: Bryan T. Evans, 46, S. Cecil Street, was served with active outstanding warrants for violation of probation (two counts) on Friday, June 7. Sgt. Matthew Elliott arrested Evans without incident.
