Disorderly conduct: Officers were dispatched to Commercial Bank concerning a customer who was causing a disturbance on Monday, July 8. Upon arrival, Patrolman Jordan Douglas spoke with an employee, who said Michael Burke, 37, Craigsville, came to the bank and asked if he could cash a $1 million bill. According to the report, the employee collected the bill and said it would be turned into the U.S. Secret Service. Burke then became irate. Burke was asked to leave the bank but he refused to do so. Burke was placed under arrest and charged with disorderly conduct.
Warrants served: Jody L. Evans, 48, Evans Valley Road, was served with active outstanding warrant for violation of probation, unlawful removal of license plate, violation of financial responsibility, driving while license revoked, vandalism, leaving the scene of an accident, aggravated assault (two counts), attempted vandalism $1,000-$10,000, and no registration on Tuesday, July 9. Patrolman Jessy Burgess arrested Evans without incident and transported him to the Cocke County Jail Annex.
Disorderly conduct: Officers were dispatched to Newport Medical Center concerning an unruly patient on Sunday, July 7. Upon arrival, Patrolman Shane Bower said he observed Lisa Mae Ellison, 52, Cosby Highway, screaming and cursing at medical staff. Ellison refused to cooperate and she was placed under arrest. Ellison was charged with disorderly conduct.
Failure to appear: Jimmy J. Brown, 36, was served with an active outstanding warrant for failure to appear on Tuesday, July 9. Patrolman Johnathan Ball served Brown the warrant at the Cocke County Jail Annex.
DUI: Officers were dispatched to the area of Highway 411 in reference to a possible impaired driver on Monday, July 8. Patrolman Johnathan Ball located the suspected vehicle and conducted a traffic stop without incident. At that time, Ptl. Ball came in contact with the driver, identified as Joseph E. Thomas, 42, 3rd Street, who had an odor of alcohol about his person. Officers administered a field sobriety test to Thomas and he performed poorly on all tests given. Thomas was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.
