Pursuit: A Newport man is being sought after he was involved in a vehicle pursuit from the Cocke County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday, Nov. 3. Deputy Blake Cupp stopped a vehicle on Cosby Highway after he learned it belonged to Brittany Reese, who had active warrants for her arrest. Upon stopping the vehicle, Deputy Cupp came in contact with the driver, identified as Spencer Grooms, 29, Keener Road. During the investigation, Grooms would not comply with verbal commands before shutting the driver side door and fleeing from the scene. Deputy Cupp said Grooms continued on Cosby Highway before turning on Mulberry Street at a high rate of speed. Deputy Cupp said Grooms disregarded several stop signs before losing sight of the vehicle. Warrants have been obtained.
