King arrest: A Bryson City, NC woman is facing several charges including driving under the influence on Wednesday, Jan. 16. Lt. Michael Whitmer reported he was dispatched to the intersection of Cosby Highway and Wilton Springs Road, concerning a vehicle accident at 10:30 p.m. Upon arrival, Lt. Whitmer came in contact with the driver, Twana Hicks King, 54, who was still sitting inside the vehicle. According to the report, King had an odor of alcohol about her person and her speech was slurred. At that time, deputies administered field sobriety test to King and she performed poorly on all test given. She was arrested without further incident. Lt. Whitmer stated while looking for her identification card, he found a prescription bottle that contained four pills of Alprazolam, 10 pills of Tramadol, and three open “airplane” bottles of alcohol. King did submit to to breathalyzed testing and her BAC was .144. King was charged with driving under the influence, open container law, possession of schedule IV (two counts), violation of financial responsibility, and failure to maintain lane.
Domestic assault: Kathleen D. Cornelison, 59, Lyman, SC, came to the Cocke County Sheriff’s Office to report a domestic assault that occurred January 10. Sgt. Chris Barnes spoke with Wright, who said on that night, Reginald Bryant Wright, 54, St. Louis, MO, allegedly struck Cornelison. The incident occurred somewhere between Interstate Exit 451 and Exit 432. According to the report, Cornelison provided medical records of her injuries.
Theft: Michael Ray Posey, 36, Shadow Brook Way, reported a theft to the Cocke County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, Jan. 15. Administrative Captain C.J. Ball spoke with Posey, who said sometime around January 10, someone reportedly entered a chip truck that was parked at the business and stole a Ruger 380 pistol. The estimated value of the firearm was $350.
