Anders arrest: William O. Anders, 47, West Broadway, was served with active outstanding warrants for violation of probation and violation of sex offender registry on Tuesday, Aug. 13. Patrolman Chris Silvers arrested Anders without incident and transported him to the Cocke County Jail Annex.
Ellison arrest: Heather Ellison, 32, Olive Drive, was served with an active outstanding warrant for failure to comply with child support on Tuesday, Aug. 13. Patrolman Brandon Cassady arrested Ellison following a welfare check on Mineral Street.
Public intoxication: Officers were dispatched to the area of Union Cemetery concerning a female subject who was passed out in a ditch on Tuesday, Aug. 13. Upon arrival, Patrolman Will Garber came in contact with the female in question, identified as Karen D. Evans, 42, Morrell Springs Road, who admitted to consuming vodka. For her safety, she was taken into custody. Evans was charged with public intoxication.
McAfee arrest: A Newport man was arrested by the Newport Police Department for possession of methamphetamine on Thursday, Aug. 15. Patrolman Paul Weber conducted a routine traffic stop due to a light law violation. At that time, he came in contact with the driver, identified as Michael McAfee, 35, Jasmine Drive, who did not have a valid Tennessee Driver’s License. He was then placed under arrest without further incident. Upon inventory of the vehicle, Ptl. Weber said he found a baggie that contained .23 grams of methamphetamine and a glass pipe. He was arrested and charged with possession of schedule II, possession of drug paraphernalia, light law violation, and driving while license revoked.
Williams arrest: Dustin R. Williams, 26, Sweetwater Road, was served with active outstanding warrants for aggravated burglary and theft $500-$1,000 on Wednesday, Aug. 14. Captain Matthew Elliott arrested Williams without incident and transported him to the Cocke County Jail Annex.
Domestic assault: Steven E. Askew, 60, E. Highway 25/70, was served with an active outstanding warrant for domestic assault on Wednesday, Aug. 14. Captain Brad Ball arrested Askew without incident.
