Disorderly conduct: Deputies were dispatched to the area of Deerfoot Road in reference to a suspicious person on Saturday, July 6. Upon arrival, Deputy Daniel Smith found the male in question, identified as Clavin Ray Sutton, 41, who was acting disorderly and had a difficult time standing still. According to the report, Sutton admitted to taking methamphetamine prior. For his safety he was taken into custody. Sutton was charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

Domestic assault: Michael Dale Reece, 49, Dean Way, was arrested by the Cocke County Sheriff’s Office for domestic assault on Saturday, July 6. Deputy Colby Franco reported he was dispatched to the 100 block of Dean Way, concerning a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, Deputy Franco spoke with Vickey M. Ball, 39, who said while she was asleep Reece allegedly threw a drink at her and told her to leave the residence. According to the report, when Ball refused to leave, Reece began pulling her hair. Reece was determined to be the primary aggressor and was taken into custody.

Public intoxication: A Newport man is facing charges of public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia following a disturbance at a restaurant on Friday, July 5. Deputy Colby Franco reported and other deputies were at Arby’s when they heard a couple yelling at each other at Burger King. At that time, Deputy Franco made contact with the female victim, Cassie Wynn, who said she was trying to get her belongings from the vehicle. Deputies then came in contact with Dustin Scott James, 22, River Ridge Road, who had slurred speech. When questioned if there was anything illegal inside the vehicle, Wynn said there were needles under the driver’s seat. Deputies obtained verbal consent to search the vehicle and discovered the needles where James was sitting. James was then placed under arrest and transported to the Cocke County Jail Annex.
