Warrants served: Chasity L. Humphrey, 30, Banjo Way, was served with active outstanding warrants for domestic assault and vandalism on Monday, Sept. 16. Sgt. David Clevenger arrested Humphrey at a residence on Woodlawn Avenue without incident. Humphrey was being sought following a domestic altercation where she allegedly assaulted her mother on Sunday, Sept. 15.
Smith cited for theft: A Newport man was cited for theft after he stole a pint of milk on Monday, Sept. 16. Captain Matthew Elliott was dispatched to Food City east concerning a shoplifter. Upon arrival, Capt. Elliott spoke with the manager, who said he observed Trent J. Smith, 27, Allen Chapel Road, drink a pint of milk and attempt to leave the store without paying. The total theft was $1.89.
Warrants served: Ralph R. Maybee, 31, White Pine, was served with active outstanding warrants for failure to appear (two counts) on Tuesday, Sept. 17. Sgt. Derek Wright arrested Maybee following a traffic stop without incident.
Runyan arrest: Nathan T. Runyan, 20, Myers Circle, was arrested following a traffic stop in Newport on Tuesday, Sept. 17. Patrolman Paul Weber conducted a traffic stop after he observed a vehicle operating on Cosby Highway with no tag lights. At that time, Ptl. Weber came in contact with Runyan, who was reportedly sweating profusely, couldn’t sit still, and his pupils were dilated, according to the report. Runyan admitted that he took methamphetamine prior to the traffic stop. Runyan was then placed under arrest without further incident. Upon inventory of the vehicle, officers found a baggie that contained .13 grams of methamphetamine. Runyan was charged with possession of schedule II, driving under the influence, driving while license revoked, failure to appear and unlawful removal of tags.
Probation violation: Brandon C. Foster, 33, New Market, was served with an active outstanding warrant for violation of probation on Monday, Sept. 16. Sgt. Derek Wright arrested Foster following a traffic stop without incident.
