McKoy arrest: Ralph L. McKoy, 35, Driskill Circle, was arrested by the Newport Police Department for driving under the influence on Wednesday, June 19. Patrolman Jordan Douglas conducted a traffic stop after he observed McKoy pull out in front of two vehicles on East Broadway, almost causing a collision. Ptl. Douglas came in contact with McKoy and stated he had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and appeared to be “lethargic.” As officers attempted to administer a field sobriety test to McKoy, he did not follow any of the directions. He was placed under arrest without further incident and charged with driving under the influence and failure to yield.
Gray arrest: Charles E. Gray, 42, Friendship Road, was served with an active outstanding warrant for violation of probation on Thursday, June 20. Patrolman Paul Weber arrested Gray without incident and transported him to the Cocke County Jail Annex.
Sells arrest: Trinity D. Sells, 40, East Broadway, was served with an active outstanding warrant for violation of probation on Wednesday, June 19. Sgt. Derek Wright arrested Sells without incident and transported her to the Cocke County Jail Annex.
Probation violation: Karen W. Comfort, 53, Corryton, was served with an active outstanding warrant for violation of probation on Wednesday, June 19. Patrolman Shane Bower arrested Comfort at Quality Inn without incident.
Theft: Officers were dispatched to Walmart concerning a theft that occurred on Wednesday, June 19. Upon arrival, Patrolman Jordan Douglas spoke with Lisa Vick, 36, who said she accidentally left $100 at the self checkout line. When Vick returned to retrieve the money, it was missing. There are no suspects at this time.
