Cocke County coach Nicole Chrisman talks over strategy during a conference in Tuesday’s season opening win over South Greene. The Lady Red improved to 2-0 on the season by notching their first district victory of the season at Seymour on Thursday night.

It was a successful night on the diamond for both the Cocke County High School baseball and softball teams on Thursday evening.

The Fighting Cocks notched their first win of the 2019 campaign with a 12-0 shutout of Washburn on Thursday night.

The decision was completed in five innings.

Also on Thursday, the Lady Red improved its mark to 2-0 by picking up their first District 2-AAA victory of the season.

Cocke County notched a 13-2 road victory over the Seymour Eagles.

The Fighting Cocks hosted Karns on Friday evening in a game completed after press time, while the Lady Red's Friday night twinbill against Greeneville was postponed due to rain.

Cocke County is scheduled to host Cosby High in a 1 p.m. baseball contest on Saturday.

The Lady Red return to action by hosting District 2-AAA foe Morristown East on Monday at 5 p.m.
