Weed trimmer taken

Tuesday, Dep. C.J. Ball filled out an incident report made by Leeann Gooderham, 40, 2655 Timberlake Drive, Newport, concerning the theft of an orange weed-trimmer from a building near a residence she watches. Gooderham believes the weed trimmer was taken from the building by a man who was reportedly renting the residence. Gooderham reported the man has not been seen in a few days. The estimated value of the trimmer is $400.


DUI charges

Tuesday, Dep. Derek Wright arrested Christina M. Beeler, 31, 110 E. Newcomb Drive, Oak Ridge, on charges of second-offense DUI, violation of the implied consent law, driving with a suspended license, violation of the light law and driving without insurance or registration.


Contributing to the delinquency of a minor

Tuesday, Dep. Danny Ray Reece arrested Swan Lee Price, 20, 1005 Wright Road, Newport, on charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. According to the report, Price picked up two female minors and took them to a motel off the Cosby Highway. Both minors reportedly had runaway petitions taken out for them.


Wallet, licenses taken

Monday, Dep. David Parton filled out an incident report made by John Hayes, 67, 904 Stokes Valley Way, Parrottsville, concerning the theft of his wallet from his residence. According to the report, Hayes told Parton someone took his wallet from his residence. The wallet reportedly contained $207 cash, an insurance card, a driver’s-license along with Hayes’ hunting and fishing license.


Playstation ordered without consent

Tuesday, Dep. Randall Hartsell filled out an incident report made by Joan Kelly, 58, 867 Brookside Drive, concerning identity theft. According to the report, Kelly stated she received a phone call from the Dell Computers saying someone opened an account in her name and ordered a Playstation, which was reportedly sent to California. The account was reportedly opened without Kelly’s knowledge. No suspects have been reported.


Ram stolen while owner hiked

Tuesday, Sgt. Eric Rinehart filled out an offense report made by Edward William Flanagan, 20, 3785 Kelly Gap Road, Greeneville, concerning the theft of his red 1996 Dodge Ram 4 X 4 pickup from the Meadow Creek Trail parking area. According to the report, Flanagan stated he parked his truck at the trailhead and went hiking with friends along the Meadow Creek Trail around 5:45 p.m. When the group returned at 6:30 p.m., Flanagan’s truck was reportedly missing. The estimated value of the pickup is $10,000.


Wallet, cards, pictures stolen

Tuesday, Lt. Rick Laws filled out an offense report made by Deborah Lee Collier, 49, 685 Carson Springs Road, Newport, concerning the theft of her black ladies wallet from a daughter’s car while it was parked at 685 Carson Springs Road on March 4. According to the report, no forced entry was visible on the vehicle. In addition to Collier’s wallet, $10 cash, one debit card and a checkbook were also taken. The estimated value of the stolen items is $175.

Cash stolen from register

Monday, Patrolwoman Amy Elswick responded to a call concerning the alleged theft of cash from a register at a 24-hour diner the junction of the Cosby Highway and Interstate 40. According to the report, the business’s manager stated an employee told him to count the register. The employee told Elswick she went outside to smoke and told a customer to watch a fellow employee who might possibly steal cash from the register. The customer told the employee that he observed the employee in question open the register while the other employee was smoking. The employee immediately called for the manager who counted the cash inside the register and found it to be $50 short. The employee in question told officers she didn’t take the money and had no idea where it was. The witness reportedly left before police arrival.


Ford nudges Honda

Tuesday, Sgt. Scott Lamb was dispatched to a two-vehicle accident on eastbound lane of Highway 25/70. According to the report, Janie R. Mullen, 47, 638 Carson Springs Road, Newport, had reportedly stopped her 2002 Honda Voyager for traffic while traveling in the eastbound Highway 25/70 lane when the rear of her vehicle was struck by a 2002 Ford driven by Chad Livingston, 27, 3220 Hillview Drive, Kingsport.


Accord backs into Cherokee

Tuesday, Patrolman Donald Coakley was dispatched to a two-vehicle accident on Alex Street. According to the report, Reva Huff, 34, 335 Alex St., Newport, was backing a 1993 Honda Accord from a parking space at 435 Alex St. when she struck the passenger-side door of a parked 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee owned by Michael Pruitt, no age given, 548 Overlook Way, Newport.
