COSBY--Entries are currently being accepted for the Maid of Ramps pageant, which will be held on Kineauvista Hill during the Cosby Ruritan Ramp Club Festival on Sunday, May 4. Entry is limited to the first 20 contestants ages 16 to 21. There is no entry fee. The deadline to return the completed application form and color photograph to The Newport Plain Talk is noon on Wednesday, April 30, or when 20 entries have been received, whichever comes first. The third contestant to enter is Macie Darnell Lane, the 17-year-old daughter of Mark and the late Sheila Lane, of Newport. A sophomore at Cocke County High School (CCHS), she has blonde hair and brown eyes. She was named Who's Who Among American High School Students and was selected to perform at halftime at the Pro Bowl in Hawaii this past February. Lane is involved with First Priority, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), and New Horizon at CCHS. She is involved with the youth group at Parrottsville Church of God and does volunteer work. Her hobbies include tennis, cheerleading, gymnastics, and spending time with friends and family. She plans to attend the University of Tennessee and pursue a career as a neo-natal nurse. Sponsored by her grandparents, she will wear a lime green gown accented with rhinestones down the front. The fourth contestant to enter the pageant is Molly Katherine Ford, the 18-year-old daughter of Ella and Gary Ford, of Newport. A senior at CCHS, she has brown hair and green eyes. She is a member of Student Council and Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA). Ford serves as a senior class officer and was named senior class favorite. She plans to attend East Tennessee State University. She enjoys swimming, reading, and spending time with friends and family. She has volunteered at Baptist Hospital of Cocke County for four years. Sponsored by Tan Easy Tanning Salon, she plans to wear a long black strapless gown accented with sequins at the top. There will not be an interview question. Judging will be based on beauty, stage appearance, modeling, and showmanship. The first to enter will be the last to model. For a $10 fee, contestants may enter a "Most Beautiful" competition on the day of the pageant.
