NEWPORT--Cocke County's
Spring in the Smokies Festival pageants, sponsored by the Alpha Eta Chapter of
Epsilon Sigma Alpha, will be held Saturday, April 26, on the East Broadway side
of the Cocke County Courthouse.
The entry fee is $35, and contestants do not have to be Cocke County
residents.
Baby pageants will begin at 11 a.m. with divisions for
boys and girls up to 23 months old.
Children pageants will start at 1 p.m. with divisions for
girls ages 2 to 3, girls ages 4 to 6, and boys ages 2 to 6.
Queen pageants, with age groups for girls ages 7 to 21,
will begin at 1:45 p.m.
Pre-registration is required in order to participate at
the cost of $35. Those registering after 6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 25, or the
day of the pageant will have a $5 late fee assessed and no guarantee of a
participation trophy on the day of the event.
If pageant directors run out of participation trophies
the day of the pageant, they will be given out the following week.
The registration deadline is 30 minutes before the
scheduled time for the pageant to begin. The first to enter will be the last to
model.
Contestants should arrive dressed because dressing rooms
will not be available.
Registration forms will be accepted Friday, April 25,
from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on the courthouse lawn.
Pre-registration may also be done by mailing the entry
