The Cocke County Election Commission encourages the public to register to vote now if they are not a Cocke County registered voter or if they have moved and need to update their address with the Cocke County Election Commission.

Voter registration in Tennessee is by county and if you have moved into Cocke County you are required to complete a new voter registration application before the registration deadline.

Joyce Slagle, Administrator of Elections encourages the public to pick up a voter registration application now at any one of the following locations:

Public Libraries, Post Offices, County Clerk Office, County Election Office, City Halls, Department of Safety and Register of Deeds.

An application can be printed off the state website at the following address http://state.tn.us/sos/election/ss-3010.pdf. Please complete the printed application in black or blue ink. The last day to register to vote is Tuesday, July 8, 2008.

If you are a Cocke County voter who needs to change your address or name, please complete the voter registration application and your information will be updated. Citizens are not registered voters in Cocke County until they receive a voter registration card. Individuals with questions are encouraged to contact Joyce or Dawn (423) 623-2042.

Also, the Cocke County Election Commission will conduct a voting machine demonstration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at Food City.

Representatives from the Election Commission will be on hand to demonstrate the MicroVote Infinity machines and voters will be allowed to cast votes in a mock election to become familiar with the process.
