On Friday, July 4th at noon, the Dandridge Yacht
Clubwill sponsor their 22nd annual Fourth of July Boat Parade. The parade got itsunofficial start in
the middle of 1980's. Three boats were decorated and"paraded" around Douglas Lake. Others fell in
line behind these threeboats, and a tradition began.
Although sponsored
by the Dandridge Yacht Club, anyonecan join in the festivities, and we're always looking for more.
If you wouldlike to join in the fun, just decorate your boat, and meet at Point 8 onDouglas Lake at
11 a.m.
There is a judge's boat positioned near the beginning ofthe
route. The judges are independent and not associated with the DandridgeYacht Club. There are two
boat classifications: Pontoon Boats and PleasureBoats. There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophy
for the winners of thesecategories.
The parade actually begins at 12 p.m.
It follows a routefrom Point 8 around Henderson Island, under the green bridge to the silos.Prizes
will be awarded at the silos. The parade lasts approximately 2 hours.
