Department and Allied E.M.S. were dispatched to a one-vehicle accident on
Lincoln Avenue Thursday morning, which surprisingly left no one with any
serious injuries. According to a crash report by Patrolwoman Heather Lawson,
the driver of the 1997 Ford Ranger pickup, William T. Willis, 42, 324 Lennon
Road, Newport, told police he was traveling northbound on Lincoln Avenue when
he took his eyes off the road "for a second" and struck a utility
pole on the corner of Second Street. Willis's vehicle flipped on its top.
Willis was not ejected and did not receive any medical treatment.
