NEWPORT-General Sessions Judge John Bell on Wednesday,
Aug. 26, upped the charge against a stabbing suspect from aggravated assault to
attempted first-degree murder.
A preliminary hearing was held in Judge Bell's court on
Wednesday for triple-stabbing suspect Adam C. Edwards, 41, of 3698 Henderson
Road, in Hartford.
Judge Bell bound the case over to the grand jury and set
Edwards' bail at $100,000.
Officers on Monday, Aug. 17, responded to a fight and
stabbing complaint at 3375 Gulf Road, in Hartford. At about 11 p.m., Edwards
allegedly stabbed Edward Pendergrass, George Randy Wild, and Edward Hammett,
according to the Cocke County Sheriff's Department.
All four men were described as friends who were drinking
alcohol and listening to music when Edwards, at about 11 p.m., allegedly
"just started going crazy" and ended up stabbing the other three men.
Wild, 52, of 1407 East Shipley Ferry Road, in Kingsport,
was injured seriously in the incident and airlifted by helicopter to the Johnson City Medical Center.
