Break-in reported
Eileen J. Beagle, 52, of Keasling Road, said she returned home on Friday, Oct. 9, and found the door pried open and broken, a loss estimated at $350, Deputy Sheriff Robert Thornton reported.

Fifteen-year-old reported missing returns home
A 15-year-old girl who was reported missing Friday, at 7:30 p.m., returned home on the next day, at 6:30 a.m., with an abrasion she claimed she did not know how she got it, Deputy Sheriff Derrick Webb reported.

Assault alleged
Michael Warden, 26, of 614 Battle Road, said that on Friday, Oct. 9, an acquaintance who accused him of breaking into a trailer hit Warden in the left eye and then left in a vehicle, Deputy Sheriff Tony Bailey reported.

Vandalism reported
Roger Grooms, 25, of Big Creek Road, in Hartford, said he heard a loud noise around 1 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, and when he went outside in the daylight he found his mailbox and post had been run over. There was glass and plastic from the vehicle on the ground. The post and mailbox are valued at $60, Sgt. Tony Whitten reported.

Vehicle rolls down hill and hits other vehicle
Travis W. Strictland, of 1995 Brisk Way, in Cosby, said his 1994 Honda rolled down a hill on Bullard Drive and struck a 2002 vehicle, damaging its front driver side corner panel and turn signal on the Honda, and damaging the driver side tires on the 2002 vehicle, which was owned by Terry Ramsey, of 1688 Bullard Drive, in Newport, according to a report by Constable Danny Hartsell.

Violation of a court order and arrest
William Randall Reece, 38, of 2929 Bogard Road, in Cosby, was arrested Friday, Oct. 9, and charged with violation of a court order/restraining order. He was allegedly on the porch of his ex-wife's house when police arrived. She has a restraining order against him, the report stated.

Wind blows goal against vehicle
Troy Hanoe, 60, of Shady Rest Drive, in Newport, said that on Sept. 28, the wind blew over a ball goal and struck the passenger side windshield of his 2000 Honda CRV, Sgt. Tony Whitten reported.

Theft reported
Stephanie Ball, 25, of Moore Hollow Road, said that she parked her vehicle at 716 Industrial Road, in Newport, for three or four days, and when she returned on Thursday, Oct. 8, she found someone had stolen the wheels, tires, radiator, battery, and CD player from the vehicle. She named a suspect, Deputy Sheriff Derrick Webb reported. The rims and tires are valued at $1,000, the CD player at $150; the radiator at $130; and the battery at $100.

Theft reported
John Presnell, 45, of Splashaway Road, said two people stole a John Deere blower valued at $250 and a double-sided hedge trimmer valued at $500 from his property on Thursday, Oct. 8, Deputy Sheriff Derrick Webb reported.

Minor accident on Armory Road
Jerry R. Dunn, 64, of 1621 Mountain Ranch Road, in Newport, said he had stopped his 1992 Chevy S14 on Armory Road at Lower English Creek on Friday, Oct. 9, at 8:25 p.m., when Jackalynn M. Roberts, 17, of 409 River Ridge Way, in Newport, applied her brakes to a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire and hit the Chevy in the rear bumper, causing very minor damage to the Pontiac, but no damage to the Chevy, Deputy Sheriff Randall Hartsell reported.

Accident on Highway 321
A 1995 Nissan pickup truck allegedly driven by Karen A. Willett, 37, of 1220 East Stagecoach Road, in Greeneville, allegedly crossed the center line on Highway 321 near Clear Creek Road on Thursday, Oct. 8, and struck a 1996 Jeep Cherokee SUV driven by Eric W. Freshour, 37, of 696 Sunlight Road, in Parrottsville, Deputy Sheriff Hollis Emmons reported. The Jeep Cherokee ran off the left side of the road, down an embankment, and through a barbed wire fence. No one was injured.

Subaru ends up upside down
Vickie S. Jacobson, 43, of 1001 Wright Road, in Newport, said that on Friday, Oct. 9, he was traveling north in a 2004 Subaru on Highway 73 near Wright Road when she left the left side of the road, rolled, and the vehicle came to rest on its top. She told Deputy Sheriff Robert Thornton reported that she swerved to a miss a car.

Accident on Oneil Road
Luci L. Bryant, 16, of 654 Sixth St., in Newport, was traveling east on O'Neil Road near Better Road in a 1997 Ford EPT when he met a 1999 Toyota 4Runner driven by John D. Bible, 38, of 1177 Golf Course Road, in  Newport, on a narrow bridge. Bryant said her vision was obstructed by trees and shrubbery and she swerved to miss the Toyota, struck a bridge rail, and dropped off the low bridge into the creek. Bible said when he saw the Ford, he stopped his vehicle because he thought Bryant was going to hit him with her vehicle, but went off the embankment instead, Deputy Sheriff Tony Bailey reported.

Jewelry reported stolen
Belinda Lea Turner, 38, of Emanuel Road, said that on Friday, Oct. 9, her daughter came home and saw several jewelry items stolen from her house, Constable Danny Hartsell reported. Reported stolen were six lady rings valued at $1,000; four men's rings worth $1,000; a gold necklace valued at $200; seven gold coins valued at $500; three earrings valued at $200; and an ankle bracelet valued at $30.

Identification theft alleged
Lawrence Butler, 44, of Sunshine Way, said an acquaintance fraudulently purchased cell phone service from October 2008 through July 2009 without his knowledge, but under his name and social security number. A collection agency later called Butler to collect payment of $333.13 on a past due bill that the acquaintance ran up, Deputy Sheriff Tony Bailey reported.

Theft reported
Christopher Shaver, 32, of Cosby Highway, said sometime between Thursday, Oct. 1, and Tuesday, Oct. 6, someone took tools from his home valued at $85. He named two suspects, Deputy Sheriff Derrick Webb reported.

Theft reported
Serrie L. Shelton, 23, of Little Hollow Way, said that she returned home on Tuesday, Oct. 6, and noted her car keys, a Panasonic five-disc CD player and Surround Sound valued at $360 was stolen, Deputy Sheriff Robert Thornton reported. Neighbors allegedly saw a suspect at her house who then left in a vehicle.

Aggravated burglary, theft alleged
Bobbi Jo Cureton, 27, of Bottle Road, said a set of speakers in a box was taken from her home sometime between Sept. 19 and Friday, Oct. 2. An acquaintance said another person admitted to the theft of the speakers, which were allegedly found at Dixie Pawn Shop in Newport. The speakers were valued at about $50. Gold-plated earrings and a Black & Decker skill saw were also taken and allegedly sold to other people. The total value of stolen items was $90, Deputy Sheriff Jason Oury reported.

Accident in driveway
Denise Rene Hannah, 40, of Ginger Way, in Newport, said that on Wednesday, Oct. 7, she accidentally backed her 1999 Chevy pickup truck into a 1999 Nissan parked in a driveway on Ginger Way. Both vehicles were damaged, according to a report by the Cocke County Sheriff's Department.

Accident at Walmart parking lot
Christy R. Chrisman, 39, of Bill Douglas Road, in Newport, said that on Wednesday, Oct. 7, she was backing her 2001 Ford Windstar van out of a parking spot and struck the driver's side of a 1997 Honda Accord headed west in the Walmart parking lot and driven by Patricia Webb, 46, of 564 Jones Circle, in Newport, Patrolman William Garber reported.

Accident at Movie Time Video
Robert I. Burnside, 21, of 231 Jaybird Road, in Newport, said he was backing a 1998 Ford Explorer out of a parking space at Movie Time Video, at 214 East Broadway, on Wednesday, Oct. 7, and hit a 2000 Jeep Laredo SUV driven by Wendlyn D. Ball, 39, of 591 Boxwood Way, in Newport, in the rear bumper, Patrolman Allen Stump reported.

Vandalism reported
James Larry McCarter, 62, of Edwards Way, in Newport, said that on Tuesday, Oct. 6, his 1987 Mercury Cougar was vandalized when an allegedly intoxicated acquaintance he picked up and gave a ride got angry, was forced to get out after McCarter stopped the vehicle, and punctured a passenger rear tire of his vehicle, Capt. Brad Ball reported. Damage was valued at $75.

Theft under $500 alleged
Jerry Kyle Walker, 21, of 4095 Frank Road, in Morristown, said someone stole his jack handle worth $70 on Wednesday, Oct. 7, that he had used to jack up a vehicle at 531 7th St., in Newport, Lt. Terry Lawson reported. About an hour later, Patrolmen William Garber and Matt Franklin stopped Corey Buckner, 20, and Elijah Ramsey, 20, in a vehicle near 7th Street. The two men said they owned the jack handle, which was returned to Walker.

Vandalism alleged
Andy Hunt, 27, of 655 7th St., in Newport, said after an acquaintance had been in his house earlier in the day, on Wednesday, Oct. 7, he tried to play his X-Box 360 Halo Edition and it would not work. He told Patrolman Allen Stump he had played the game on Saturday, Oct. 3, and it worked fine then. The game was valued at $400.

Vandalism alleged
Johnny Keasling, 24, of 134 Park St., in Newport, said on Wednesday, Oct. 7, that in the previous two months, someone had been tampering with his phone box at the back of his residence. He said he found someone he knows standing at the back of his house with a telephone receiver and a wire tapped into his phone line on Oct. 7, and told the person to leave. Later, Keasling returned home and found his boat had white paint spray-painted over its outside and parts, and with an obscenity painted, as well. Damage was estimated at $250, Patrolman William Garber reported.

Vandalism, assault alleged
Amanda Hellard, 22, of Hooper Highway, in Cosby, said an acquaintance threw an object against her vehicle, damaging the driver's side, and also allegedly tried to run her 2006 Ford Focus off the road on Cosby Highway, in front of the Walmart parking lot, on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 00:10, Capt. Scott Lamb reported. Damage to the Ford was estimated at $500.

Theft reported
Kittie Haynes, 45, of 335 Prospect Ave., in Newport, told Patrolman Matt Franklin on Wednesday, Oct. 7, that two people she knows had moved out and taken several of her belongings with them. Haynes said they moved out while she was in jail Sept. 26 to Wednesday, Oct. 7. Reported stolen were: several clothes (valued at $200), a 52-inch Toshiba flat screen TV ($1,000), a 27-inch Zenith TV ($300), two AT&T cell phones ($400), a Coleman table lamp ($34), a weed eater ($100), and two Homelite chainsaws ($400), for a total value of $3,634.

Break-in on Fisher Vin Way
Jehu Winchester, 67, of Fisher Vin Way, in Del Rio, said that on Wednesday, Sept. 30, someone broke into his residence and stole a Mark IV guitar (valued at $100), a Celestron telescope ($300), Minolta 35 mm camera ($250), and caused damage to the door frame valued at $75, Deputy Sheriff Hollis Emmons reported.

Wallet reported lost or stolen
Chad Deaton, 23, of Jones Cove Road, in Sevierville, said that he last saw his wallet when he made a purchase at the 440 truck stop in Newport on Monday, Oct. 5, when he showed his ID to make a purchase. He said he backtracked all of his previous locations and could not locate the wallet, Deputy Sheriff Derrick Webb reported. The kangaroo leather wallet was valued at $130 and contained $220 in cash and several documents.

Tools and paint materials reported stolen
Forrest Clevenger, 41, of Cosby Highway, said a person he hired for odd jobs on Sept. 25 asked to be paid up front for the scheduled work. Clevenger said the person worked only a short time and left the job site with tools, paint, and other items valued at $440, Deputy Sheriff Derrick Webb reported.

Thermometer and toy 40-wheeler stolen
Rita Turner, 55, of South Highway 107 in Del Rio, said she suspected two acquaintances stole an indoor/outdoor thermometer valued at $45 and a child's 4-wheeler toy valued at $5 from her home recently, Deputy Sheriff Joseph Owings reported on Thursday, Oct. 8.

Breaking and entering
Peggy A. Williams, 53, of Carson Springs Road, in Newport, said that on Thursday, Oct. 8, someone broke into her home and stole a Skil chainsaw valued at $270, a gold bracelet valued at $500, a diamond ring valued at $400, a watch valued at $300, a car battery, and other jewelry and items, Deputy Sheriff Joseph Owings reported.

Hit and run accident reported
Courtney R. Godsell, 19, of 1118 Royal Way, in Del Rio, said he was driving a 1995 Ford F-150 pickup truck on South Highway 107 on Thursday, Oct. 8, at about 9:20 p.m., headed south, when he entered a curve and met another truck in his lane of traffic. Godsell told Deputy Sheriffs Joseph Owings and John Zurcher the other vehicle sideswiped Godsell, breaking off his side mirror, busting his side glass, and damaging his side door, before leaving the scene without stopping.

Two violations of probation charges
Brad A. Hopkins, 32, of 521 Overlook Way, in Newport, was arrested Friday, Oct. 9, and charged with two counts of violations of probation. Hopkins allegedly made threatening phone calls to two women on Myers Circle, Deputy Sheriff C. J. Ball reported.

Arrested for theft under $500
Shawn D. Meeks, 34, of the Bryant Town "projects", was arrested Friday, Oct. 9, and charged with theft under $500 after he was allegedly seen taking an Xbox 360 game console on Sunday, Oct. 4, that belonged to Jessica Ledford. Meeks was served with the warrant in jail where he was incarcerated for another charge, Patrolman William Garber reported.

Violation of probation arrest
Tyrone Woods, 37, of 110 Jersey Drive, in Sevierville, was arrested Saturday, Oct. 10, at 2 a.m., and charged with violation of probation, Patrolman Ricky Parton reported. He was arrested on Broadway, in front of Wilma's Florist shop.

Public intoxication charge and arrest
Frankie B. Randall, 48, of 461 Rock City Road, in Newport, was arrested Friday, Oct. 9, and charged with public intoxication. He was arrested on Amanda Circle near Bailey Street, in Newport. A woman who called police said he allegedly tried to open the door to her residence and get in. She said she did not know Randall, Patrolman Amy Elswick reported.

Accident at Newport Towne Center
Larry Glenn Rolen, 61, of 270 Sea Road, in Newport, allegedly slowed his 2004 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck to make a right-hand turn into a parking lane while traveling south through the parking lot of Newport Towne Center Shopping Center on Friday, Oct. 9, at noon, when a 1981 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by Jonathan E. Thornton, 27, of 116 Willowbrook Road, in Newport, struck the Chevrolet in the rear, causing damage to both vehicles, Capt. Brad Ball reported.

Accident in front of Goodwill store
Betty L. Pack, 55, of 810 Sunlight Road, in Parrottsville, was sitting in her 1993 Geo Prism parked legally in a parking space at the Goodwill store in the Eastern Plaza Shopping Center, on Friday, Oct. 9, when Emma Carver Moore, 58, of 4406 Liberty Road, in Cosby, allegedly turned her vehicle too wide as she attempted to park next to Pack, who was sitting in her vehicle. Moore's 2001 GMC Yukon struck the Geo Prism in the passenger side rear quarter panel, Capt. Brad Ball reported.

Counterfeit $10 bill
Robert Leland Young, 57, of North Ridge Drive, in Parrottsville, tried to pass a counterfeit $10 bill at Food City East, at 416 Eastern Plaza, in Newport, on Friday, Oct. 9, according to a head cashier, Patrolman Matt Franklin reported. Young said he got the counterfeit bill from a market on Cosby Highway about two days prior to this incident.

Counterfeit $5 bill
Terry Eugene Pack, 32, of North Cecil Street, in Newport, tried to pass a counterfeit $5 bill at Food City East's Gas N Go gas station on Friday, Oct. 9, according to a manager of Food City, Patrolman Amy Elswick reported. Pack said he received the counterfeit bill as change from a grocery market.

Police vehicle involved in accident
Sgt. Armando S. Fontes Sr., 35, said he activated his emergency lights and sirens on Friday, Oct. 9, on Rankin Road near Tedder Drive to pass a 1990 Ford Thunderbird while Fontes was en route to an emergency call, Capt. Scott Lamb reported. Preston C. Gray, 35, of 463 Rankin Road, in Newport, who was driving the Ford, said he did not hear the siren and attempted to make a left turn onto Tedder Drive. The Ford collided with the passenger rear of the 2008 Ford Crown Victoria police car, causing the Ford to spin in the road and collide with a mailbox at 473 Rankin Road.

Accident on North Street blamed on text message
Gerae Lee Andrea VanDyke, 20, of 802 Ocoee St., in Newport, said she looked down to see a text message she had just received and hit with the 1995 Nissan Pathfinder she was driving, the rear of a 2001 Honda Accord driven by Crystal M. Susong, 28, of 146 Briarthicket Road, in Bybee, Capt. Scott Lamb reported. The accident occurred on Friday, Oct. 9, on North Street near Clifton Heights.

Accident on Highway 321/North Street
Mathew Parton, 31, of 243 Clear Creek Road, in Newport, said he was waiting for traffic to clear in a 1998 Chevy Astro Van on Highway 321/; North Street, headed north, when a 1994 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight driven by Kenneth McMahan, 58, of 460 Viemont Circle, in Newport, said he looked down for a second, looked back up, and tried to stop, but did not do so in time before hitting the Chevy Astro, Patrolman Ricky Parton Reported.

Accident on Highway 321/Cosby Highway
A 2002 Chrysler TWC van driven by Christopher L. Mantooth, 35, of 1365 Goodwater Road, in Bybee, said he was stopped at a light at Cosby Highway and Mulberry Street on Friday, Oct. 9, in the left lane, when Kendra N. Bernard, 18, of 849 Hiwassee St., in Newport, attempted to move into the turning lane with a 2000 Dodge Neon, Patrolman Allen Stump reported. The Dodge N eon struck the Chrysler in the driver's side in front of the rear taillight.
