Capias failure to appear charge and arrest
Shane Clarence Barton, 28, of 627 Warford Road, in Newport, was arrested Monday, Oct. 26, and charged with capias failure to appear, Deputy Sheriff David Crowder reported.

Criminal simulation under $500
Gerald Patrick Burke, 44, of 141 Cove Hollow Road, in Cosby, was arrested Friday, Oct. 23, and charged twice with criminal simulation under $500, after allegedly trying to pass a counterfeit $100 bill and a counterfeit $10 bill, Sgt. Tony Whitten reported.

Public intoxication arrest
Bradley J. White, 27, of 328 Old State Trail Way, in Bristol, Tenn., was arrested Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Exxon gas station on West Highway 25/70, and charged with public intoxication, Constable Danny Hartsell reported.

Two charges in arrest
Ricky Dale Jenkins, 21, of 525 Charity Way, in Newport, was arrested Tuesday, Oct. 20, and charged with leaving the scene of an accident and violation of the financial responsibility law, Sgt. Tony Whitten reported.

Several charges in arrest
Nathan D. Talley, 23, of 849 Maple Lane, in Newport, was arrested Sunday, Oct. 25, on Highway 73 at Maple Lane, and charged with DUI 3rd offense, failure to maintain lane of travel, driving on a revoked license 2nd offense, open container of alcohol, and failure to yield the right of way, Sgt. Armando Fontes reported.

Introduction of contraband to penal institution
Eugene Wayne Brown II, 35, of 1428 Clear Creek Road, in Parrottsville, was arrested Saturday, Oct. 24, and charged with introduction of contraband to a penal institution, Det. Bryan Murr reported. Brown allegedly hit 14 pills of a controlled substance in the lid of a bottle of shampoo on two occasions that he requested be given to an inmate housed in the Cocke County jail.

Counterfeit bills bring 374 charges of criminal simulation
Joie Lee Warden, 36, of 130 Curry Way, in Del Rio, was arrested Saturday, Oct. 24, and charged with criminal simulation (374 times) for counterfeit bills representing $11,368, possession of a handgun while intoxicated, and possession of marijuana, Det. Bryan Murr reported. Charles Wayne Sprouse, 30, of 250 Curry Way, in Del Rio, was charged with violation of the headlight law, violation of the registration law, an expired license, and 374 counts of criminal simulation for the counterfeit bills.

Failure to appear and capias
Natasha Mae Swafford, 23, of 1042 Meeks Way, in Newport, was arrested Saturday, Oct. 24, and charged with failure to appear and capias, according to a Cocke County Sheriff's Department report.

Domestic assault charge and arrest
Donna Faith Nash, 42, of 439 Grandview Way, in Cosby, was arrested Wednesday, Oct. 21, and charged with domestic assault, Deputy Sheriff Steve Johnson reported.

DUI 4th, open container, and financial responsibility violations
Heath Craig Bryant, 28, of 842 Palmer Hollow Road, in Bybee, was arrested Wednesday, Oct. 21, and charged with DUI 4th offense, open container, and financial responsibility, Deputy Sheriff Steve Johnson reported. The charges stemmed from a traffic accident on Fowler's Grove Road on July 22.

Several charges in arrest
Guy C. Rippy, 51, of 4889 Wakeman Way, in Cosby, was arrested Sunday, Oct. 25, and charged with failure to maintain lane of travel, improper display, DUI 1st offense, and open container of alcohol in his vehicle, Sgt. Armando Fontes reported.

Violation of probation
Darrell Jenkins, 35, of 4030 Miller Town Road, in Cosby, was arrested Friday, Oct. 23, and charged with violation of probation, Deputy Sheriff Jason Oury reported.

Theft reported
Douglas Ray Zook, 53, of Teague Road, said someone he knows came over to his house on Monday, Oct. 26, and stole a TV, two DVD/VCR combination units, and a VCR player, Constable Danny Hartsell reported. The RCA TV is valued at $200, the combination units at $200, and the RDCA VCR at $100.

Violation of probation charge and arrest
Timberly Foster, 20, of 4039 Grandview Way, was arrested Wednesday, Oct. 21, and charged with violation of probation, Deputy Sheriff Jason Oury reported.

Violation of probation
John W. Southerland, 23, also of 4039 Grandview Way, was also arrested and charged with violation of probation, Deputy Sheriff Jason Oury reported.

Aggravated domestic assault charge, arrest
James K. Moore, 20, of 508 Sorghum Way, in Newport, was arrested Friday, Oct. 23, and charged with aggravated domestic assault, Deputy Sheriff Hollis Emmons reported. An acquaintance allegedly sustained two fractures to her arm during a scuffle between her and Moore.

Accident on Carson Springs Road at Raines Road
Amy L. Nease, 17, of 390 Sweet Williams Road, in Newport, was making a left turn from Carson Springs Road onto Raines Road, in a 1999 Mazda Millenia, on Friday, Oct. 23, when her vehicle was struck in the rear by a 1990 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Jesse G. Kirkpatrick, 25, of 659 City View Drive, in Newport, Deputy Sheriff Hollis Emmons reported.

Burglary at Little League field house reported
Misty Benton, 27, of Cosby, aid someone broke into the Cosby Little League field house on Cosby Highway through the back door on Monday, Oct. 26, taking a case of Gatorade, Blow Pops, bubble gum, and suckers, valued at around $100, Deputy Sheriff C. J. Ball reported.

Assault and theft reported
Scott Meek, of 804 Slick Road, said that on Monday, Oct. 26, at 1 a.m., a man he met earlier and had drunk beer with, beat him and took several items, including an English Bulldog (valued at $2,500), a Blackberry cell phone ($400), $540 in cash, and a company Cingular phone ($100), Sgt. David Crum reported.

Ditch line struck in accident
Billy S. Fine, 74, of Middle Creek Road, in Cosby, said that on Monday, Oct. 26, he was attempting to pull out onto Highway 321 from Sherry's Market when he struck a ditch line in the parking lot of the store. It caused front-end damage to his 1999 Nissan pickup truck, Deputy Sheriff C. J. Ball reported.

Vehicle reportedly taken without permission
Brian Baxter, 45, of Green Hill Road, in Del Rio, said an acquaintance took his 1999 Buick Century without permission between Wednesday, Oct. 20, and Thursday, Oct. 21, Deputy Sheriff Jason Oury reported.

Theft less than $500
Marjorie Lunsford, 68, of Nottingham Drive, in Newport, said that on Wednesday, Oct. 21, $82 was taken from her purse while she was at work at the Grassy Fork Medical Clinic, Deputy Sheriff Jason Oury reported.

Burglary reported
Eva Eschelbacher, 39, of Rankin Road, in Newport, said that on Thursday, Oct. 22, someone broke into her residence and took several items, Deputy Sheriff C. J. Ball reported. Among the unlisted items reported stolen was a Dell laptop computer.

Burglary on Overlook Way
Nancy Porthouse, 58, of Overlook Way, in Newport, said someone entered her home on Wednesday, Oct. 21, and stole an Acer laptop computer valued at around $399, Deputy Sheriff C. J. Ball reported.

Shot fired over house?
Kenneth Hartsell, 50, of 844 Chicken Hollow Road, said that on Saturday, Oct. 24, someone he knows fired a single shot across the top of his home, Deputy Sheriff Joseph Owings reported.

Theft under $500
Deverta Jacobson said that on Monday, Oct. 26, someone driving an older yellow Pontiac four-door stopped at Sherry's Market, pumped $34.18 in gas, and drove away without paying, Sgt. Eric Rinehart reported. Jacobson said in the car was a white male and a white female.

Arrested for disorderly conduct
Mark Adkins, 18, of 160 Bible Road, in Mohawk, was arrested Sunday, Oct. 25, at 232 Laramie Circle, in Newport, and charged with disorderly conduct, Patrolman Billy Woody reported.

Theft under $500, and two assault charges
Brandy N. Roberts, 27, of 199 Clevenger Cut-off, was arrested Sunday, Oct. 25, and charged with theft under $500 (shoplifting) and two charges of assault, Patrolman Heather Lawson reported. A Food City West employee said he observed Roberts placing items into her purse while in the store.

Woman charged, arrested for domestic assault
Tammy R. Cashen, 43, of 113 Greystone Way, in Newport, was arrested Sunday, Oct. 25, and charged with domestic assault, Patrolman Matthew Elliott reported. Cashen allegedly grabbed Randy Cashen around his neck and started to choke and scratch him around his neck. Police saw marks around his neck, the report stated.

Criminal simulation
Robert A. Webber, 26, of 1242 Evans Valley Road, in Newport, was arrested on Sunday, Oct. 25, and charged with criminal simulation. Webber allegedly "on or about" Thursday, Oct. 22, passed $275 in counterfeit money to another person, Capt. James Holt reported. Webber was arrested on 9th Street.

Lost or stolen license plate
Andrew Gilliam, 32, of Wilson Avenue, in Morristown, said he last saw a tag on his vehicle when he was at a Whitson Drive residence around 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25, Patrolman Justin Vinson reported. Gilliam said he noticed the tag missing on Monday, Oct. 26, after he ran some errands.

Two juveniles in fight
A 14-year-old male was injured on Monday, Oct. 26, after he fought with a 12-year-old at the Bowman Drive playground at the Newport Housing Authority, Capt. Brad Ball reported. The injured youth was taken to Baptist Hospital of Cocke County. His mother said he was punched in the throat, kicked in the ribs, and kicked in the head several times. He allegedly could not breathe well and complained of chest pain.

Accident on East Broadway
A 2005 Ford Taurus driven by Bret M. Graff, 48, of 639 N. Frye Ave., Newton, N.C., collided with a 1993 Mazda Mx3 driven by Tracy H. Camron, 39, of 262 Irance Road, in Newport, on Monday, Oct. 26, at 9:15 a.m., on East Broadway near Mims Avenue, Patrolman Matt Franklin reported.
