DUI 1st offense and two other charges
Clifton Raines, of 1238 Piny Mountain Road, was arrested Wednesday, Nov. 4, and charged with DUI 1st offense, open container, and implied consent, Sgt. Armando Fontes reported.

Hit and run on Court Avenue
Jimmie Huskey, of Windsong Way, in Parrottsville, said that when he went to get 2009 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck at 111 Court Ave., on Thursday, Oct. 29, he noticed it had been damaged by another vehicle that may have been parked beside his vehicle, Deputy Sheriff Hollis Emmons reported.

Vehicle hits dog on Armory Road
Phyllis Kay Cabell, 48, of 128 Greystone Way, in Newport, said she was traveling north on Armory Road on Saturday, Oct. 31, in a 2004 Nissan Altima when a dog entered her lane from the left side of the road, Sgt. David Crum reported. Cabell apparently attempted to miss the dog, but instead hit the dog, causing damage to the left corner of the front bumper.

Vandalism and threats
Nikki Stokely, 22, of Hull Way, said that two men she knows got into a fight at her home, on Friday, Oct. 30, Deputy Sheriff C.J. Ball reported.

Vandalism reported
Dwayne Kelley, 37, of Bridges Chapel Road, said a juvenile in a black Ford station wagon held an object out the window of a passing car and damaged his mailbox, Deputy Sheriff Tony Bailey reported. Charges were placed on the driver and passenger of the Ford station wagon. The mailbox is valued at $50.

Attempted break-in of Family Dollar store
Duke Self of Family Dollar, at 3324 Cosby Highway, in Cosby, said that someone tried to pry the front door open, but failed to do so, sometime between Sunday, Nov. 1, at 8 p.m. and the next day at 7 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Tony Bailey reported. The door is valued at $200.

Theft reported
Susan Harris, 57, of Goodwater Road, said someone she knows broke their contract to remodel the kitchen, dining room, bathroom, and carport of her home. She said she saw the suspect on Aug. 28 take items of hers that did not belong to him, including two garage doors (valued at $600), two remote garage door openers ($300), entry doors and frames ($300), electrical supplies, and other items that totaled $1,640, Deputy Sheriff Tony Bailey reported.

Assault on a minor
Brandy Livingston, of Newport Highway, in Greeneville, said that on Friday, Oct. 30, around 10:30 p.m., an eight-year-old boy was playing with a suspect's hair. The suspect became aggravated and pulled the minor over the chair he was sitting in and squeezed him very tightly until the boy started crying and screaming. He was taken to the emergency room at Takoma Regional Hospital where he was x-rayed, treated, and released. The boy had apparently suffered strains to his neck and shoulder, Lt. Rick Laws reported.

Burglary of a vehicle
Amy Holloway, 25, of Alla Circle, in Newport, said someone on Monday, Nov. 2, smashed out the passenger side front window of her Honda Civic and stole a Jensen seven-inch flip-out DVD/CD player from the dash, Deputy Sheriff Derrick Webb reported. The Jensen player is valued at $400, and the passenger front window is valued at $500.

Theft reported
Jennifer White, 27, of Claiborne Drive, said someone stole medication from her vehicle was it was parked overnight on Sunday, Nov. 1, at a residence on Highway 160, Sgt. David Crum reported. The medication is valued at $39. Cash in the amount of $40 was also stolen.

Burglary/vandalism of home up for sale
Joyce "Joy" Large, 58, of Ailey Drive, in Newport, said that on Wednesday, Oct. 28, someone broke out the glass of a carport door and two storage buildings on the property were accessed without permission at a property on Carson Springs Road, in Newport, that was empty and up for sale. Nothing appeared to have been stolen, Deputy Sheriff David Crowder reported. Damages to the door and a window are estimated to be $200.

Theft over $1,000
Steve Bryant, 37, of 1538 Sherwood Drive, in Newport, said that on Sunday, Oct. 4, someone stole several items from his property at 311 Industrial Drive, in Newport, Deputy Sheriff David Crowder reported. Items stolen were: four gray log racks (valued at $1,800), six engine dollies ($1,500), a galvanized gate ($150), a motor hoist ($200), and a forklift work basket ($300). Crowder said he recovered the missing galvanized gate at a residence on North Highway 321 in Parrottsville. The total value of items stolen, including the gate, is $3,950.

Break-in reported
Linda Goddard, 61, of Shiloh Road, said someone broke into her home on Tuesday, Nov. 3, and stole a semi-automatic rifle valued at $100, a 16 9A single shot, New England firearm, valued at $100, and a jewelry box (valued at $50). Damage to the door to her home is valued at $300, Deputy Sheriff Tony Bailey reported.

Vandalism reported
Evelyn Roberts, 56, of Needmore Road, told police someone had shot a back window out from the back of her home on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at about 4:15 p.m., Deputy Sheriff Tony Bailey reported. The window is valued at $250.

Theft under $500 charge and arrest
Clemmie J. Davis, 29, of 1550 Geranium Road, in Parrottsville, was arrested Wednesday, Nov. 4, and charged with theft under $500. Video surveillance at Walmart allegedly caught Davis on Aug. 17 with body jewelry taken out of a display case and apparently tucked under a ball cap he had on as he left the store. Davis admitted to taking the jewelry, Det. Donna Hopkins reported.

Arrested for theft
Sandra M. Chapman, 28, of 1906 Walnut Ave., in Jefferson City, was arrested on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Walmart after she was seen placing about 15 PlayStation 3 games down her jeans and attempting to leave the store without paying for them, Patrolman William Garber reported. The items are valued at $338.80.

Personal injury
Kimberly House, 43, of 4630 Cedar Creek Road, in Greeneville, told police who saw her at Baptist Hospital of Cocke County that on Wednesday, Nov. 4, she went into the Lucky Pawn shop on Broadway to shop. House said that on the way out of Lucky Pawn, she slipped on a rug and fell. There were four witnesses to her fall, Patrolman Allen Stump reported. House was hurting in her left leg and ankle.

Burglary reported
April McKinney, 28, of Seabrook Street, in Newport, said that on Wednesday, Nov. 4, someone broke into her home and stole $11,215 worth of items, including a 42-inch plasma TV (valued at $1,800), six gold bracelets ($4,000), a PlayStation 2 and 60 games ($1,400), Sgt. Stephen Higginbotham reported.

Another burglary on Seabrook Street
Lucas Allison, 24, of 815 Seabrook Street, in Newport, said that someone broke into his home on Wednesday, Nov. 4, and stole $1,660 of items, including 15 Xbox games worth $20 each (a total of $300) and assorted jewelry (valued at $750), Lt. Terry Lawson reported.

Assault reported
Andrew Hempy, 19, of Overlook way, in Newport, said that on Wednesday, Nov. 4, an acquaintance struck him in the head and body with a closed fist, Capt. Scott Lamb. Injuries were seen to Hempry's left eye and some abrasions were on his neck.

Counterfeit money
Shaunna Peak, 30, of Splashaway Road, said she went to a former co-worker to collect money she had borrowed from Peak. She then went to Walmart on Tuesday, Nov. 3, to put the money on a card and was told $30 was counterfeit, Patrolman Travis Gorrell reported.

Leaving the scene of an accident
Ashley Rayanne Francher Gregory, 32, of Cypress Point, in Knoxville, said that on Tuesday, Nov. 3, she was at the intersection of West and East Broadway when a white semi truck swiped her vehicle and continued to drive off without stopping. Gregory said the driver must have known what he did because he looked back after swiping her vehicle, Patrolman Matthew Elliott reported.

Rental items missing
Luke Lunsford at Aaron's Rental said a person has been late with her rental payments and the business wanted to repossess property she rented on Tuesday, Nov. 3. The renter told police she set a swirl rung she rented outside while moving and someone stole it, Sgt. Jason Smith reported. The woman also said she would bring two iron table lamps (valued at $200) to the store later that day, on Nov. 3. The rug is valued at $150.

Accident on Highway 321/Cosby Highway at Heritage Blvd.
Heather R. Dean, 28, of 807 Elana Lane, in Newport, was driving a 1998 Mitsubishi Gallant on Saturday, Oct. 31, at 2:25 p.m., on Cosby Highway, headed north, when a 1996 Dodge Avenger driven by Carrie M. Carbone, 21, of 29 Chase Ave., in North Adams, Mass., pulled into Dean's lane, causing contact. Carbone said she was pulling out from the Burger King parking lot and thought the northbound lanes were clear for her to cross over into the center turn lane. Carbone's vehicle was struck in the driver's side, Patrolman William Garber reported.

Accident on Highway 25/70
Francisco L. Reyes, 54, of 606 St. Johns Drive, in Dandridge, was on Saturday, Oct. 31, traveling west on Highway 25/70 at Springtime Drive in a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu when Tabatha A. Seay, 29, of 272 Robert E. Lee Drive, in Newport, failed to slow down in her 1999 Olds Cutlass and collided with the rear of the Chevrolet, Capt. Scott Lamb reported.

Accident at Fred's parking lot
J.C. Hurd, 56, of 315 Cherry St., in Greeneville, said he was on Saturday, Oct. 31, trying to make a left turn at Fred's, at 122 Five Rivers Plaza, when his 2007 Chevy SK1 pickup truck struck a pole he said was in his blind spot, Patrolman Allen Stump reported.

Hit and run reported
Darlene Gorrell, of 231 Ramblin Road, in Newport, said that on Monday, Oct. 26, her 2003 Chevrolet Z71 pickup truck was parked overnight in the yard of a residence at 830 Fontana St. Gorrell said that the next morning, she saw damage to the rear of her vehicle, Capt. Scott Lamb reported.

Accident on Second Street
Emmett Lee Bailey, 61, of Second Street, in Newport, was driving a 1988 Ford F-150 pickup truck when a 2000 Nissan Maxima driven by William Robert Hembree, 21, of 105 River Ridge Way, in Newport, came up Second Street and sideswiped Bailey's vehicle, on Sunday, Nov. 1. Hembree said he was distracted and turned to the back seat to talk to his kids just before the collision, Patrolman Matt Franklin reported.

Counterfeit money
Leshea Michell Shelton, 20, of Sycamore Way, in Newport, turned in on Tuesday, Nov. 3, a counterfeit $10 bill to the Newport Police Department. She said she was not sure where she got the money. The bill was turned over to Det. Lynn Shults, Patrolman Matthew Elliott reported.

Theft under $500
Rhonda Bishop, 36, of Delta Way, in Sevierville, said she was at Baptist Hospital of Cocke County, located at 435 Second Street, in Newport, when someone on Tuesday, Nov. 3, between noon and 1 p.m., went through her bag and purse. She said missing were two gold dollars, one silver dollar, and $5 in change, Patrolman Donald Coakley reported.
