The U.S. Forest Service in Greeneville announced Friday
that Weavers Bend Road, Forest Service Road 209C, along the French Broad River
in Cocke County will be temporarily closed due to damage.
Heavy rains and high water from the remains of Hurricane
Ida washed out a portion of the culvert. Additional rain, freezing and thawing
can result in further damages and unsafe passage.
The road will remain closed until repairs are completed.
District Ranger Terry Bowerman said, "We apologize for the inconvenience,
especially during hunting season, but public safety is our highest
priority."
