NEWPORT-With the exception of one match-up this morning,
most Cocke County elementary school squads wrapped up the 2009 portion of their
schedule on Monday, December 14 as Centerview traveled to Del Rio, Northwest
hosted Bridgeport, Grassy Fork played at Edgemont and Parrottsville was at home
to Smoky Mountain.

The Lady Falcons finished off the 2009 part of their
schedule by finishing off the Lady Trojans early. The Lady Falcons flew out to
a 22-6 first quarter lead and never looked back, leading 37-13 at the half,
46-15 after three and coasting home with the 31-point victory. Hannah Miller
had a game-high 17 points to lead the Lady Falcons while Emily Stintson had
nine points to lead the Lady Trojans.

The Trojans had the lead going into the final quarter,
but the Falcons were able to come back. The Falcons led by one, 11-10, at the
end of the first quarter, but the Trojans made a push, and led by four, 24-20,
at the half. The Trojans lead was two, 34-32, heading into the final six
minutes, but the Falcons pushed back when it counted, and came away with the
five-point victory. Nick Myers had a game-high 16 points for the Falcons while
Logan Black had 15 points to lead the Trojans.

The Lady Ravens have been tough to beat this season, but
the Lady Panthers gave them all they could handle. The Lady Ravens led by just
one, 6-5, at the end of the first quarter, but stretched their lead to four,
17-13, at the break. The Lady Ravens led by seven, 25-18, heading into the
final stanza and managed to hold off a frantic Lady Panther surge for the
six-point victory. Dessi Shaffer and Wendy McGaha each had 10 points to lead
the Lady Ravens while Bethanie Williams had a game-high 15 points to pace the
Lady Panthers.

The Ravens took the first half, but the Purple Panthers
turned it up for the final two quarters. The Ravens flew out to a 17-12 lead at
the end of the first quarter, and held a five-point advantage, 29-24, at the
half. But the Panthers exploded for 15 points and held the Ravens scoreless to
lead 39-29 at the end of the third quarter. The Ravens found their offense
again for 12 fourth-quarter points, but it was too late as the Panthers trotted
home with the 10-point victory. The Panthers' Blake Clarke and the Ravens'
Thomas Edwards shared game-high scoring honors as each finished with 16 points.

The Lady Bears came alive in the second quarter and the
Lady Parrotts just couldn't keep up. The Lady Bears led 4-2 at the end of the
first quarter, but sprinted out to a 21-4 lead at the half. The Lady Bears led
34-10 at the end of three and ambled home with the 18-point victory. Cyara
Williams had a game-high 17 points to lead the Lady Bears while Abbie Ramsey
had six points to pace the Lady Parrotts.

The Smoky Bears have been the team to beat so far this
season, but the Parrotts had a surprise waiting on Monday night in front of a
packed house at Parrottsville. The Parrotts held a two-point advantage, 14-12,
at the end of the first quarter, but the Smoky Bears came back to take a
one-point lead, 23-22, at the break. The Smoky Bears lead was still one, 34-33,
heading into the fourth quarter, but the Parrotts fought to get things even,
40-40, at the end of regulation, and the Parrotts fans going wild. In the
overtime period, the Parrotts used the energy from their fans, and edged the
Smoky Bears by two for the upset victory. Seth Lovell had a game-high 19 points
to pace the Parrotts while Justin Shelton had 15 points to lead the Smoky
Bears.

36-3 at the half. The Lady Rockets went to the bench for the second half, and
cruised home with the 34-point victory. Allison Frazier had a game-high 12
points to lead the Lady Rockets balanced attack while Markisha Allen had three
points to lead the Lady Patriots.

the half. The Rockets led by 20, 42-22, at the end of three and coasted home
with the 21-point victory. Patrick Hurst had a game-high 16 points to lead the
Rockets while Kyle Lane had 13 points to pace the Patriots.

Bridgeport at Cosby and Del Rio hosting Parrottsville.
