By 1994, he had trained in Kali/Eskrima with Dan Inosanto, an expert is sticks and knives, who was also a student of Bruce Lee. During this time, Mr. Allen received his 5th Degree Black Belt.
By 1998, Mr. Allen was inducted into the International Hall of Fame with a “Lifetime Gold Achievement Award” in Los Angeles, California, and his name was entered into the National Who’s Who in the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. Years later, he was inducted into the Florida Hall of Fame as a Humanitarian of the Year and Master of the Year.
By 2001, he was featured in the Karate Voice Martial Arts News with his teacher, Dr. Moses Powell, and selected to join the U.S. National Martial Arts Team. The next year, he had attained a 9th Degree Black Belt and formed PMAK (Project Martial Arts Kids), which was a program offering free martial arts programs to underprivileged children. It was at this time that he also received an Award of Excellence and an Appreciation Award for Survival Tactics with US Military at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
From 2003 to today he has accomplished even more in his success with martial arts! He has received his rank as a Grandmaster with a 10th Degree Black Belt, was featured in the Karate Voice Martial Arts News, and has conducted seminars for police forces in Bermuda.
Most recently, Charles Allen was featured in the Karate International magazine with martial artist Michael DePasqaale. He continues to travel throughout the United States conducting seminars in what is known as “Pure Sanuces.”
Staff of Newport Dance and Cheer Academy said they welcome Mr. Allen to the school with honor. He is an asset to our community offering youth karate classes and martial arts instruction for ages eight and up. His outstanding training and experience will also allow him to offer Women’s Self-Defense classes, Stranger Danger classes, and more at our academy.
This will also open up more opportunities and convenience for families at the school. Parents, brothers and sisters can both take classes in the same location. Tuition discounts are available for families with siblings taking classes, and discounts are given to students taking multiple class styles. Students do not have to go outside the school to seek instruction for various styles of learning.
Mr. Allen’s motto also fits in with the school’s program as well. He believes in One God, One Love, and One Family, in that order. He focuses his instruction on self-defense, not violence. He encourages his students to be disciplined and aware of their surroundings. But, first and foremost, he teaches that living a life that honors God in all you do is priority.
NDCA is now enrolling students in classes for ages eight and older and all ability levels. Students may contact the school office Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday between 4 to 7 p.m. or on Wednesday between 4 to 6 p.m. Classes will be held on Monday and/or Thursday afternoons/evenings. Exact times will be announced after minimum grouping enrollment has been met.
There is a one-time registration fee per family, but parents of existing students do not have to pay again. Monthly tuition is based upon the amount of time spent in class. Classes will begin the week of Sept. 26 with a Parent Meet-n-Greet on the 26th at 6:30 p.m. For more information on Charles Allen’s Martial Arts/Youth Karate classes, call (423) 623-4113.
